Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: March 03, 2017

GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Registration and warm up 5.30-6.30 sharp.
2. Information and questions from players 6.30-6.40.
3. Tournament: 6.40-11.30.
4. We are running a group match play tournament using matchplay events.
5. There will probably be about 14 machines in use on the night.
6. Grant is not obliged to tell players which machines will be used prior to the tournament day.
7. Players will be grouped in fours and if necessary one or two groups of threes. There will be three separate rounds of three matches. This means every player will play
nine matches in total.
8. In each round each group will play a single game on three different machines and allocated points according to their finishing position; 7/5/3/1 for four player groups and
7/4/1 for three players groups. This is the IFPA system of scoring.
9. For the first round grouping will be based on IFPA rankings.
10. PLEASE NOTE: after the first round we will use the computer to randomly group players for the second and third round.
11. We are doing this because the tournament does not require pre-registration. In future tournaments we may try the Tiered Swiss pairing system, but I note that this
system has proven unpopular in tournaments.
12. At the close of the third round, the player with the highest points score will be declared the tournament winner.
13. Ties will be broken by the number of first place finishes, then by the number of second place finishes and if necessary a single game play-off.
14. ENTRY FEE: $25 for the whole night. This means up to about 6 hours of playing.
15. On the night players should have their IFPA # ready, to save time. Just Google IFPA and your name to get your # if you have one.
16. For players who want more practice, they can attend the Friday lock-ins at Adelaide Pinball. Check dates with Grant or myself.
17. There will be a tech on site for the tournament.
