World Pinball Player Rankings update – closing out 2016 and moving to WPPR v5.3

world_pinball_player_rankings_wppr1As we come to an end of another season, the 2017 season brings us some additional challenges with the changeover to our WPPR v5.3 system.

Up first is closing the books on 2016, and in order to do that we are asking that any organizer that has open tournament results submit those to us by Saturday, January 7th. Furthermore, any corrections to player misspellings, incorrect results, improper scoring issues, etc, all need to be addressed by January 7th as well. Please take some time to review your own personal results to see if anything looks out of place.

Our plan is to lock down 2016 on January 7th, and use the standings at that time for IFPA World Championship qualifying purposes, as well as the other Championship Series purposes (State Championship Series, European Championship Series, etc). Any errors caught after that point in time will NOT impact the 2016 standings, although those changes will be reflected in the 2017 rankings going forward.

Any questions please contact us at [email protected], and remember that if your profile doesn’t say ‘Registered’ with a green check mark, that we do NOT have your email address on file. This means we will not be able to contact you for any IFPA World Championship or other Championship Series qualifying issues.

gamethesystem.co – Contribution to Women’s World Championships

naiomigoodwin_feature_1Australian pinball is booming, and the usual hot spots such as central and inner west Sydney are quickly being eclipsed by new ‘barcades’ opening up in Brisbane (Netherworld – http://www.netherworldarcade.com/), and Melbourne (Bartronica and Ms Bartronica – http://bartronica.com/), as well as the (just a week old) Pinball Paradise (https://www.facebook.com/pinballparadisemelbourne/) – also in Melbourne. It’s all fantastic news for pinball and the competitive side of the sport as more and more leagues and competitions pop up in these great locations.
At gamethesystem.co, we attempt to highlight competitive pinball even as the great divide of the country presents many challenges to covering these events – Sydney is still the focus simply due to locality of the writers.
But there’s another challenge – we need more diversity in the players, competitors and the hobby in general. For this reason gamethesystem.co has been highlighting women in pinball where possible, and we are very proud of Australia’s number 1 female competitor Naiomi Goodwin who kindly agreed to participate in one of our Player Features – where you can get to know a bit more about Naiomi and how she ended up playing the game we all know and love.
It is for this reason as well that gamethesystem.co would like to make a modest contribution to the prize pool of the 2017 Women’s World Championships, with a donation of $250. A number of contributions from other organisations and anonymous donators have already been made which is great to see, and we would love to encourage others to contribute what they can to help women’s pinball gain more exposure.
We very much look forward to the competition next year!
