GoFundMe – IFPA SCS/WWC/Pinmasters stream gear

blog post courtesy of Garrett Hays

Hi! My name is Garrett Hays and I’ve agreed to help Josh and Zach Sharpe of the IFPA by building a streaming rig that meets the needs of the IFPA State Championship Series nationals, Pinmasters and Women’s World Championship taking place in Mesquite, TX in March of this year. The date and location of the SCS, Pinmasters and WWC follow the AAMA amusement expo each year. In the past the expo has taken place in Las Vegas but, will be moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for 2017.

SCS, Pinmasters and WWC will be played across twelve pinball machines from different eras and our hope is to have each machine monitored with cameras so that broadcasters/commentators can easily switch between machines during live streaming in order to follow the action or a particular group of players. In addition to the games we would also like to monitor the players so that those following the live stream can watch as the competitors nudge and slide save their way to victory or tilt in defeat. Finally we would need more equipment for the broadcasters/commentators so that their play by play announcements can be heard easily and their reactions to tournament play can be seen.

Last year during the Bat City Open, I was in charge of purchasing and designing the streaming rig used for the event. I was able to borrow cameras, stands, microphones and in combination with the equipment I already owned, somehow managed a successful broadcast on a minimal budget. I can reuse some of the equipment used for the Bat City Open like stands and some cabling but, we will require so much more to rig up all twelve games and will need your support.

With your donations you will be supporting the SCS, Pinmasters and WWC for 2017. If the AAMA amusement expo decides to move to another location in 2018 your donations will still be used for other TX and OK tournaments every year. Your donations will make live streaming the following tournaments possible;

State Championship Series (Dallas, TX 2017-??)
Pinmasters (Dallas, TX 2017-??)
Women’s World Championship (Dallas, TX 2017-??)
Bat City Open (Austin, TX)
Texas Pinball Festival (Dallas, TX)
Houston Area Arcade Group expo ( Houston, TX)
Silverball Showdown (Oklahoma City, OK)

Thank you for your support and help!
