Tournament Overview

Start Date: March 25, 2015
End Date: July 24, 2015

This league was created to promote pinball and the social aspects of the hobby in the CNY area. All hosts should create a welcoming environment for people new to pinball, as well as people who have been around the hobby for quite some time. All guests should be courteous to the hosts for the night, and show respect toward their pinball machines and homes. Now down to the brass tacks.

League Night Format
-4th Wednesdays of every month, March-July, with Finals in August (see below)
-$5 per person, per night. No other fees are needed to attend.
-Would like some form of contact for persons attending, to make aware of more pinball events happening in the area. A follow on the CNY Facebook or Email is preferable.
-Start times are flexible. MUST have AT LEAST 30 minutes of open practice, but 1 hour is preferred. MUST start between 630pm and 730pm
-Hosts need not have their address made public, but has to make their residence open to people willing to join and be courteous guests. We will put out a message on the Facebook page, or a “newsletter” type email, asking people interested to PM a Board Member (Eric Russell, Mike Smith, or Dave Cohen) or the host.
-High Score Standings. Log score and compare to other scores. However many people you beat is your score for that machine, add up the total scores on all the machines for the night. This will help weigh a victory over 10 people as compared to a victory over 4 people. EXAMPLE I get 2nd place on a game, with 4 people playing, I score a 2. If I got 2nd place on a game, with 10 people playing, I score an 8
-Try to log a minimum amount of 5 games per meet, more can be added. Mulligan idea would be to throw out your lowest-ranked score at the end of your round, and replay that game. If host only has 3 or 4 working machines, multiple games will count on a machine of their choosing, until the minimum of 5 is reached.
-Plunge extra balls. Want to keep the evening moving, and also so more experienced players cannot keep winning extra balls if a game gives them away easy.
-Guests are invited to bring snacks or drinks, hosts are not required to provide anything besides a welcoming environment for the players.
-People not wishing to compete are invited to attend. Will not be allowed to use tournament machines during tournament hours. All machines will be available after everyone’s entries are completed.
-Payouts will be based on attendance, as follows.
3-7 people- 1st place = 50% 2nd place = 40% 3rd place = 10%.
8-12 people- 1st place = 40% 2nd place = 30% 3rd place =20% 4th place = 10%
13+ people- 1st place = 35% 2nd place = 25% 3rd place =15% 4th place =10% 5th place =10%
-Tie breakers will only be used to determine prize payouts; point values will stay the same for season standings purposes.

Final (6th League Night)
-Anytime between August 19th (3rd Wednesday) and August 30th (last Sunday)
-Evening will be split into 2 groups. Top 6 Finals in one group, and all other players in the other.
Top 6 Final
-Only to include the 6 highest ranked players in attendance. Every effort will be made in the weeks leading to Finals to make sure we have a set field of 6 players.
-If you win a league night, any league night, you will AUTOMATICALLY qualify for the Top 6 Final, and a top 6 finish in league. Therefore, Finals will consist of any winners of a League Night (minimum 1, maximum 5). To fill out the 6 finals participants, the league standings will be used (minimum 1, maximum 5).
-The first tiebreaker in standings will be number of League Night 1st places in the season. If any players ranked 1-6 are still tied after that, a 1 game playoff before Final League Night begins will take place. Coin flip will decide who choses game, and order.
-All matchups will be best of 7, match play, and higher seed picks games. #1 and #2 seeds will receive byes into Semi-finals. 3rd place will be playing 6th place and 4th place will be playing 5th place in round 1. #1 seed plays lowest place participant remaining. This competition will decide the League’s final standings 1-6.
-$5 normal fee for entry for these top 6 players, $20 to winner, $10 to runner up.

“B Division” Final
-During Finals, a normal league night will be occurring, only open to players not competing in the Top 6 Final.
-These results will go toward the standings already in place after the 5th meet, to determine the final standings from 7th place to the bottom. As a normal league night, the pot will still be $5 per person, and the payout scale will be the same.
-Those playing in the top 6 Final will not be eligible for this prize.
