Tournament Overview
Start Date: March 11, 2017
End Date: June 30, 2017
7. Minimum of 4 games per meet count, and a max of 6 games per meet. The status quo of 6 games per meet is encouraged.
8. High Score Standings for each league night. Log score and compare to other scores. However many people you beat is your score for that machine, plus 1. Add up the total scores on all the machines for the night. EXAMPLE I get 2nd place on a game, with 4 people playing, I score a 3. If I got 2nd place on a game, with 10 people playing, I score a 9. Add up the total of each League Night game, and then you have your score. Compare to others for the final placement.
9. SCORING OPTIONS. “ATTEMPTS” RULES ARE AT THE DISCRESION OF THE HOST FOR THAT SPECIFIC LEAGUE NIGHT, AS WELL AS THE CNY PINBALL BOARD MEMBERS
a. Each player will get 2 attempts on each machine, and the better of the 2 scores are recorded. Player can choose to either play both games in a row on each machine, or cycle through with the rest of the competitors.
b. On some pre-DMD era games, 3 ball play can go quite quickly. Host can choose to give players more attempts on older games as compared to the newer games, but the 2 attempts rule is encouraged.
c. If host only has 3 working machines, multiple games will count on a machine of their choosing, until the minimum of 4 is reached.
10. Season Standings
a. Every League night, no matter the amount of participants, season standings scoring will be based on the same set of numbers. 1st – 100 points 2nd – 95 points 3rd – 92 points 4th – 90 points 5th – 89 points 6th – 88 points 7th – 87 points 8th – 86 points…. decreasing by 1 point for each place down to last place. 21 players is the current League record for a meet, so if you finished 21st on a 21 person night, you would score a 73.
b. If there is a tie among players, regardless of whether it is inside or outside the money spots (see Payouts), each player will split the points. For example…
i. If two players are tied for first, the money and the points will be split. Since 1st is 100 points and 2nd is 95 points, both players would receive 97.5 points for the evening.
ii. If two players are tied for 7th place, not in the money, no tie breaker game would be played. 7th is 87 points and 8th is 86 points, each player would receive 86.5 points.
c. ABSENCE POLICY – The first League Night a member is absent for during the regular season will not harm their position in the standings, that is the goal of the absence policy. Starting in season 5 each player’s lowest league night result will be dropped, and only the best 4 out of 5 scores will count towards league standings. For example…
i. If a player misses one meet they will have a score of 0 for that night, which will be their lowest score and will be dropped. So their position in the league standings will not be affected.
ii. If a player misses more than one meet they will have a score of ZERO for each of those nights. The first 0 will be their drop score but the other zeros will be counted towards the league standings.
d. IFPA MINIMUM PARTICIPATION POLICY – Only players who play in at least 50% of qualifying games used towards the final league standings will be included in the league results.
i. Since the best 4 of the 5 league night results will count for each player’s standings, only players who participate in at least 2 league nights (and play all of the league games available on those 2 nights) will be included in the final league standings.
ii. Players who did not meet the minimum participation requirement will be dropped from the league standings and will not be eligible to play in the B division finals.
Finals (6th League Night)
16. TBA (Tentatively targeted for Friday, June 30th but subject to change based on host availability)
17. Evening will be split into 2 groups. Top 6 Finals in one group, and all other players in the other.
18. Top 6 Final
a. Only to include the 6 highest ranked players in attendance. Every effort will be made in the weeks leading to Finals to make sure we have a set field of 6 players.
b. The first tiebreaker in standings will be number of League Night 1st places in the season. If any players ranked 1-6 are still tied after that, a 1 game playoff before Final League Night begins will take place. Coin flip will decide who chooses game, and order, for the tiebreaker game.
c. All matchups will be best of 5, head to head match play, and higher seed picks all games. Higher seed also gets choice of order for the first game, and then the loser chooses order thereafter. #1 and #2 seeds will receive byes into Semi-finals. 3rd place will be playing 6th place and 4th place will be playing 5th place in round 1. #1 seed plays lowest place participant remaining. This competition will decide the League’s final standings 1-6.
d. At the end of each knockout-round, the 2 losing players will play a 1 game playoff to decide final placement. Whoever is the higher (better) seeded player decides the game and order. Winner of that game finishes 5th, loser finishes 6th. Same after the semifinals, loser finishes 4th, winner finishes 3rd.
e. $5 normal fee for entry for these top 6 players, $20 to winner, $10 to runner up.
19. “B Division” Final
a) During Finals, a special league night will be occurring, only open to players not competing in the Top 6 Final, and who have met the minimum participation requirement (2 meets) for the regular season.
b) These results will be added to the standings already in place after the 5th meet, to determine the final standings from 7th place to the bottom. Like a normal league night, the pot will still be $5 per person, and the payout scale will be the same.
c) Since the B Division Finals is not a regular season league night it is not eligible to be used as a player’s drop score even if they attended all 5 regular season meets.
d) Those playing in the top 6 Final will not be eligible for this prize.
