GENERAL INFORMATION:
Tournament Director: Jason Lambert.
Tournament Venue: Timezone Surfers Paradise, Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise, QLD 4217.
Tournament times: 9:30am to 8pm.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
To qualify for the QLD State Pinball Championship, a player must finish in the Top 3 in any of the monthly pinball events run by any of the following eight clubs in Queensland during February to November 2018:
* Brisbane Pinball Club Monthly Tournament (held every 2nd Tuesday).
* Netherworld Flip Frenzy (usually held on the 1st Saturday of every month).
* SBC (Saccharomyces) Pinball Tournaments (usually held Sundays).
* Flipswitch (Yeerongpilly) Monthly Tournaments (usually held on the last Saturday of every month).
* Gold Coast Pinball Club Monthly Tournaments (usually held on the first Wednesday of every month).
* Pinball Grotto Matchplay events (usually held on the 3rd Sunday of every month).
* Pinball Grotto 3-Strikes events (usually held on the 1st Friday of every month).
* The North QLD Winter Pinball Carnival (to be held on June 15th & 16th).
* Pincadia 2-strike & Mini Matchplay events (every Monday fortnight).
*Coolangatta-Tweed Pinball Club (usually held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month).
*Townsville West End Wizards Monthly Comp (usually held on the 3rd or 4th Friday of every month).
There will be over 100 events for players to participate in at this stage, so there is plenty of opportunity for players to qualify for the big dance!
Qualifying by players from other states is also welcome!
The GRAND PRIZE:
* The winner will win FREE ENTRY into the 2019 ACS Tournament (if eligible) and essentially be QLD's representative at the event.
* The prize also includes Airfares & Accommodation for up to 2 nights.
* If the player is ineligible or unable to attend the 2019 ACS, a suitable and equivalent prize will be awarded.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT DETAILS:
QUALIFYING:
Players will be placed into groups of 4 chosen at random (4 player games).
Each group will be assigned 3 games at random.
Each game has the same points ... 7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th.
There will be a total of 4 qualifying rounds (12 games per player).
After each round, new groupings will be selected, according to points earned in the tournament to date.
Groupings are determined from the scoring in each round thereafter as follows:
1,2,3,4 .... 5,6,7,8 .... 9,10,11,12 .... 13,14,15,16 .... 17,18,19,20 .... 21,22,23,24 .... 25,26,27,28 .... 29,30,31,32 .... and so on, until all players have been grouped.
All games will be played as a 4-player games (unless machine is unable to allow it).
Matchplay software will allocate the games and order for each match.
The top 16 players will advance to the Finals once completed.
Ties for any player in the Top 16 will be broken by the player with the most number of wins, then broken by 2nd placings, then by a tie-break game (if required).
FINALS:
Finals will be played via a single elimination bracket.
Each match will be contested as a best of 5 series.
Highest seed has either choice of machine or play order.
Machine chosen will remain the same for all 5 games (if required), while play order alternates between games.
The winner will be the last remaining player.
