2019 – IFPA State of the Union

With the 2019 pinball season officially behind us, the World Pinball Player Rankings continues to show no signs of slowing down within the competitive pinball community. We wanted to take a quick look back at the growth we’ve seen during 2019.

We’re proud to say that the total number of IFPA sanctioned events for 2019 was 7,555.  This represents a 31% growth from the end of 2018 where we had 5,776 IFPA sanctioned events on the calendar. Total player attendance at those events was 173,378, up 30% from 2018.

In addition, the number of unique players that played in an IFPA endorsed tournament during 2019 was 24,380, up 14% from the number of players that were active during 2018.

The IFPA website also hit a record 4 million page views for 2019, the most we’ve ever had for a single year.

The IFPA wishes to thank everyone in the competitive pinball community for continuing to support everything we do to spread the world about our incredible sport to the masses.

2019-20 IFPA North American Championship Series – Registration closes in 26 hours!

Just a reminder that registration for the 2019-20 IFPA North American Championship Series closes tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7th at 8pm CST. Any player that has not accepted their invitation by that time will be ineligible to participate.

If you are having trouble connecting with your IFPA State or Provincial Representative, feel free to email us at ifpapinball@gmail.com.

As State/Provincial Representatives alert us to who is attending, we will be updating the registration page HERE.

2019-20 IFPA North American Championship Series – Registration is OPEN!

Qualifying results for the 2019-20 IFPA North American Championship Series are still coming in, but we wanted to take the opportunity to open up registration in advance to give players more time to respond to their invitations.

46 different IFPA State Championship finals (plus Wash DC) along with 8 different Provinces in Canada. These finals will all be held simultaneously on January 18th, 2019, with 1024 finalists competing for their share of nearly $95,000 in cash, a State or Provincial title, along with a spot in the IFPA North American Pinball Championship.

View the qualifying standings HERE.

IFPA State/Provincial Representatives should be sending out emails shortly, although most have already done so with our short registration period. Important to note that if you do not have a registered IFPA player account, you are INELIGIBLE to participate. If you feel you should have received an invitation to one of the IFPA State Championships and did not, contact the IFPA immediately at ifpapinball@gmail.com, or Click HERE to register your profile.

Registration closes on January 7th at 8pm CST. Any player that has not accepted their invitation by that time will be ineligible to participate.

Remember that no player is allowed to compete in multiple IFPA State/Provincial Championships. Players that qualify for more than one IFPA State/Provincial Championship will have to make their choice during this open period of registration. This will mean that many states/provinces will go far past the top 16 players in order to fill all 16 spots (or 24 players for any Super State/Province).

Any questions about the SCS, or anything IFPA related, please contact us at ifpapinball@gmail.com

As State/Provincial Representatives alert us to who is attending, we will be updating the registration page HERE.

Women in Pinball Feedback Survey

The IFPA recently launched our Women’s Advisory Board in order to better include women’s voices and perspectives on issues related to competitive pinball. The Board would like your input in determining what topics are most important to the women’s pinball community.

Our aim is to learn more about the backgrounds and priorities of women who participate in competitive pinball events so that the IFPA Women’s Advisory Board can better advocate for the topics that matter most to female pinball players. This survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete, and we truly appreciate your feedback.

Please click HERE to take the survey.

For questions related to the survey please contact The Women’s Advisory Board ifpawomen@gmail.com.

The classic Universal Monsters™ now haunt Pinball FX3 and Williams™ Pinball!

sponsored blog post

A Full Moon rises and awakens The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon emerges from the depths, Frankenstein and his Bride are alive, The Mummy is haunting the pyramids, and Dracula is back from his coffin! Williams Pinball™: Universal Monsters Pack is available now on:

    PlayStation 4

    Xbox One & Windows 10

    Nintendo Switch

    Steam

Mobile users can find the new tables in Williams Pinball available in the Apple App Store or Google Play!

Join the party with Dracula and his friends in the spookiest gig of the Fall, or take the Halloween feeling to a drive-in movie date!

The Monster Bash pinball table was released in July 1998, featuring several classic Universal Monsters forming a rock band. It became one of the highest-rated machines of all time, not surprisingly, as it has a superb layout, mad rules and insanely stackable modes.

Released in 1992, the Creature from the Black Lagoon pinball table got its theme from the classic movie of the same title, a film shot in 3D in the early 1950s. The table is set up as a drive-in cinema typical of the era, with features like a snack bar, a rude driver whose van blocks the screen, and of course the Creature, lurking in his lagoon.

Take on the beautiful mix of pinball wizardry and nostalgia in these classic tables, now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One & Windows 10, Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Mac. Also available on iOS App Store, and Google Play.

Josh Sharpe wins 2019 IFPA Power100 Championship!

The 2nd annual IFPA Power100 Championship saw 19 players in the Power100 show up to IFPA HQ to compete for the title of IFPA Power100 Champion.

IFPA President Josh Sharpe emerged victorious, besting last year’s Power100 Champion Escher Lefkoff in the final game. Please note Josh was the head Tournament Director of the event, and that the games were all played in his basement. There are also strong rumors that the software choices in MatchPlay were manipulated to suit Josh’s strengths. It’s important to discount the glory of this victory as appropriate from these various conflicts of interest.

In addition, Josh was instrumental in holding up the Stern Pro Circuit event at Pinball Expo from staying on schedule due to his immaculate play at the IFPA Power100 Championship.
