Paul Madison wins the 2009 IFPA Pin-Masters

pinmasters.jpg37 players competed in the first ever IFPA Pin-Masters, the World Pin-Golf Championships held in Las Vegas. 16 players qualied over the course of 2 rounds, advancing to the 3rd and final round. Finishing 12 under par was Paul Madison, besting Keith Elwin who finished in 2nd place at -10. Other finalists included Andrei Massenkoff (3rd at -3) and Cayle George (4th at -2). Zach Sharpe wins the 2009 IFPA Pin-Masters Par 3 Challenge!

par3.jpgIn a warmup to the first ever IFPA Pin-Masters, the IFPA along with Stern hosted a Par 3 Challenge at this year’s AMOA Show in Las Vegas. Players had to continue playing CSI and NBA until they hit a target score, counting each ball it took to get there as a Pin-Stroke. Zach Sharpe defeated 23 other players with his 7 Pin-Stroke total. Trent Augenstein wins the 2009 Heartland Supershow

heartland.jpg42 players participated, qualifying on Wild Wheels, Flying Carpet, Riverboat Gambler and Tales of the Arabian Nights. In the end, Trent Augenstein emerged victorious defeating Zach Sharpe (2nd), Jason Werdrick (3rd) and Adam McKinnie (4th) in the final. Full results can be found here.

Keith Elwin repeats as PAPA World Pinball Champion!

elwinPAPA12sm.JPGPlayers of all skill, from all over the globe, came to compete at the 12th PAPA Pinball World Championships this weekend. Three days of qualifying in 7 available divisions, the biggest of which being the battle for the title of PAPA 12 Pinball World Champion in Division A, where 75 players, from 7 countries, fought for 16 spots to qualify for the Quarterfinal rounds. From there, the field then went down to 8 players in the Semifinals, where a 4-player tie-breaker occurred involving Bowen Kerins, Keith Elwin, Martin Hotze, and Eden Stamm for 1 last spot in the PAPA Finals. Keith won the game, and moved on to then SWEEP the Final Round with 3 first place games on Dirty Harry, Taxi, and The Shadow, making him the first EVER back to back PAPA Champion!! Jorian Engelbrektsson finished 2nd overall, Paul Madison in 3rd, and Sean Grant came in 4th. This Year’s Classics 1 Champion is Bowen Kerins, with 2nd place going to Keith Elwin, 3rd to Koi Morris, and 4th to Kevin McCarthy. The Classics 2 Champion for PAPA 12 is Keith Johnson, with 2nd place, again, going to Keith Elwin. Robert Gagno came in 3rd, while Todd MacCulloch finished 4th.
Keith’s Championship win, along with his second place achievements in Classics 1 & 2, earned him 125.25 WPPR points, the most ever accumulated at 1 event in the history of the World Pinball Player Rankings system.

Bowen Kerins repeats as IFPA World Pinball Champion!

IFPA_6_Winners.JPG6774_247864215502_854970502_8250536_4723361_n.jpgWith 64 players in attendance from 15 countries around the world, the IFPA 6 World Pinball Championship boasted an extrordinary concentration of pinball talent under one roof. After 8 rounds of qualifying consisting of a grand total of 24 4-player games per person, the top half of the field moved on to Match play. The field whittled down to 24 players, 16 players, 8, and then 4… Bowen Kerins then defeated Andre Massenkoff, and Jorian Engelbrektsson defeated Josh Sharpe for each player to advance to the IFPA 6 Final Match. Bowen took game 1 on The Shadow, and then edged out a second victory on Dolly Parton. On game 3, Bowen put up a MASSIVE score of well over 10 million on Pharoah to take a strangle hold on the match, but Jorian put up a fantastic score on Attack from Mars to keep himself in it. However, Bowen was able to win game 5 on Blackout and once again, take home the title of IFPA World Pinball Champion for the 2nd year in a row!!
