Women’s North American Championship Series Overview

STANDINGS

  • Date: The Sunday immediately following the SCS/PCS
    • All held on same day
    • Players can only participate in one event
  • Entry fee/prizes
    • Prize pool additions are allowed. All monetary prizes must be distributed in a 40%-30%-20%-10% payout structure
  • Tournament format: 16-person fold seeding (1-16, 2-15, 3-14, etc.), best-of-7 matches, single-elimination bracket.
    • If fewer than 2 women’s-only events were held in the calendar year: 8-person fold seeding, best-of-7 matches, single-elimination bracket
    • Bronze match (playoff for 3rd): Best-of-3 match
    • Follow IFPA/PAPA Rules as closely as possible
  • Qualifying: All states will have 16 qualifier slots comprised of the top 8 ranked players based on open events and the top 8 ranked players based on women’s-only events
    • Seeding: Open events qualifiers are odd seeds, women’s-only events qualifiers are even seeds
    • If someone qualifies through both rankings, they are assigned their highest possible initial seed
    • If initial seed is subsequently altered by player attendance, players are locked into the side of the rankings they initially qualified on (i.e. if Player A qualified based on both sets of standings but her initial open ranking was higher, she would be assigned that odd seed. If due to subsequent drop-outs her eventual even seed would have been higher than her odd seed, she would still be assigned the odd seed, as it was highest when the initial qualifying was complete)
      • If someone is an alternate based on both sets of rankings, they will be assigned the seed of the first available slot they qualify for. They will then be skipped over should any openings occur for the other set of rankings.
