****** TEXAS TWO STEP ******* This is a Group Matchplay + Amazing Race Finals Tournament ******

This is a group matchplay tournament followed by an Amazing Race Finals.

QUALIFYING: Tournament begins at 6:30 PM on January 31st, 2025. Qualifying consists of five or six rounds of group matchplay immediately followed by an Amazing Race Finals. Each round players will be placed in four player groups. Depending on the number of players there may be three player groups. The Matchplay software will attempt to ensure that all players in a group have been placed on the game an equal number of times, though this cannot be guaranteed. Players will be matched according to balanced pairing. This means that the software matches players with a random opponent they haven’t faced previously in the same tournament. At the end of each round, players will earn points depending on their finishing positions of each game (7, 5, 3, 1). Results will be submitted by players via the Matchplay.events software.

An Amazing Race Finals will begin immediately following the end of the qualifying component. The top 50% of players after qualifying will advance to the finals.

TIEBREAKERS: Ties will only be broken when a player's participation in the finals is impacted. The tie will be settled by a one game tiebreaker, with the game randomly selected. Ties that impact whether or not the involved players will advance will be settled by a one game tiebreaker selected at random. Inconsequential ties will not be broken.

SEEDING: Seeding will be determined based on players’ qualifying results. Any ties among potential qualifiers who did not play in a tiebreaker will be determined by the strength-of-opponents as calculated by Matchplay.Events.

PLAYOFFS/FINALS: We will be utilizing Matchplay software and appointed scorekeepers for the Amazing Race. The top 50% of players will advance to finals. Games will be played in a predetermined order on a bank of classic (EMs/Solid State/early DMD) machines. The player with the lowest seed will play first. All players will play single player games on the same machines and the player with the lowest score for each machine is knocked out of the tournament. Once a player exceeds the lowest score for a machine, the player will immediately stop playing and raise their hand for a scorekeeper to enter their score. The player will then plunge any remaining balls and advance to the end of the queue of the next machine in the sequence. If a player earns a new low score for a machine, then the previous holder of the low score advances to the queue of the next machine. Multiple machines will be played simultaneously to the extent possible. The last player standing wins!
