Join us in celebrating the release of King Kong: Myth of Terror Island with a good old fashioned matchplay tournament - a Stern Army Launch Party Tournament!
Tournament Details:
*Saturday, July 12, 2025
*Doors Open: 10:00AM
*Tournament Starts: 11:00AM
Tournament Format: 8 Rounds of Matchplay
Top 8 go to finals - format similar to PAPA style
Maximum # of Players: 40
Cost: $30 includes tournament entry, prizes, food and free play ($35 day of at the door).
Qualifying Format:
The tournament is matchplay format, in 4 player groups, for a total of up to 40 players. There will be 8 rounds of qualifying in which groups of 4 will compete against each other. Groupings are determined by Matchplay.events which will be the software facilitating the tournament. At the end of each round, 1st place will receive 4 points, 2nd place will receive 3 points, 3rd place will receive 2 points, and 4th place will receive 1 point. At the end of qualifying, the top 8 players with the most points will go to semi-finals.
Finals Format:
The top 8 players will be in a "PAPA Style" group matchplay finals, 3 games per round with 4-2-1-0 scoring. The top qualifier in each group will "drive the bus" and have first choice of game selection or play order for each game. Other players will make the remaining choices in qualifying order. Players may not choose all 3 games for the same round from the same era of games (additional restrictions may apply). Players may also not repeat game choices. The top 2 players from each semi-finals group will advance to the final group, which will determine the winner of the tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 players.
Rules:
*All players agree to abide by the Skill Shot "Code of Conduct"
*Tournament will follow standard IFPA competition rules.
*Tournament Director and other official decisions are definitive and final.
*All ties will be broken with a single game on an older solid state machine.
*If a game has a significant issue during a round, the group playing will be moved to a solid state game.
*Late arrival for any round will result in a last place finish for that round.
