Registration for this tournament opens on May 11, 2025
Tournament Date: May 17, 2025
The fourth nearly-annual Varney Cup will be held to contest the bragging rights for championship of the Pinball 518 (Capital District of New York and environs) area, hosted once again by the incomparable Level Zero. Play will consist of two rounds of 6-8 games each of head to head matchplay, followed by PAPA-style finals for the top eight finishers. Round 1 pairings will be balanced by current player ratings and machine era; Round 2 will proceed as a balanced Swiss pairing until the cut-off time (likely 5 PM).
A secondary "consolation" strikes event, The Little Nipper '25, will be held starting at 5 (all participants will be eligible to play and automatically registered). We will also be doing a special presentation of the 2024 Pinball 518 Person of the Year award (presented to someone who has helped the community out significantly) and as ever, there will be a nice prize awarded randomly to a participant.
Field is limited to 32. Pre-registration open to members of Pinball 518 from February 28 to May 1, followed by open registration for any available slots.
