Tournament Format:
The Maine Pinball Equinox tournament will be run in three parts. It will begin with win/loss record match play then move into survival rounds and finally, NEPL style match play will determine the top four finishing positions in A and B divisions.
(Machines will have extra balls turned off, unless noted otherwise.)
Part One:
Match Play - Four players on 1 machine, for three games, for three rounds. Machines will be randomly assigned. Yes, you will be playing the same machine for three games!
For the first game of the first match, play order will be chosen from top seed down. For the second and third games play order will be chosen from loser up.
Initial seeding will be based on IFPA ranking. If a player is unranked they will be randomly placed at the bottom of the list.
At the end of the first round, players will be ranked by their win/loss record and reseeded. Play will continue for two more rounds. After three rounds the field will be split in half to form A and B divisions based on win/loss records.
Part Two:
Survival Rounds - Three rounds of match play with the last place eliminated until each division is down to 4 players. Play will be identical for both divisions. For the first round there will be 4 groups of 4 players. Each group will be assigned a random game. At the end of the match the last place finisher will be eliminated from the tournament. Now the remaining 12 players will be matched into four groups of three. Again the last place finisher will be eliminated. Now the remaining 8 players will play head to head. The winner moves on to the final four. In other words, don’t come in last!
Although players eliminated in the Survival Rounds could be considered tied, their final placement (for WPPRs) will be decided by their rank at the end of part one. Thereafter, ties will be settled by a playoff game, if needed.
Part Three:
NEPL Style Match Play - Seeding will be based on rank from the end of part one. Each player chooses a game and goes first on that game. Play order will be on the score sheets. Scoring will be 5,3,2,1. The highest score wins.
Tournament Games:
AC/DC Premium
Addams Family
Attack from Mars
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Doctor Who
Haunted House
No Fear
Scared Stiff
Space Station
Transformers Pro
Viking
