A. QUALIFYING:
Qualifying will be a target matchplay event. Points will be awarded by performance on and added to a running total that player has earned over the qualifying period. In 4 player groups, players will receive 7 for first, 5 for second, 3 for third, and 1 for fourth. In 3 player groups, players will receive 7 for first, 4 for second, and 1 for third. Qualifying will end after the first round in which one or more players reach the target of 99 points.
The top 8 players will receive 2 run byes, the next 8 players will receive 1 run bye, and the next 16 players will play in the first run of the Race for a total of 32 players making finals.
B. DIVISION RESTRICTIONS:
Players who are ‘pro rated’ (players who have obtained a WPPR rank of 250th or better by the Friday matchplay tournament) are restricted to the A division. Players below that rank are eligible for B Amazing Race finals.
C. TIES:
If two or more players reach the target after the same round, the player with the most points will be the 1st seed, the player with the 2nd most points will be the 2nd seed, etc.
Tiebreakers will be played off for the following positions between players with the same number of matchplay points:
1st overall seed (for bank realignment privilege) - played on game 1 of the A div. race with random player order
1-8 seed bye group (the ‘double bye’ line) - played on game 3 of the A div. race with random player order
9-16 seed bye group (the ‘single bye’ line) - played on game 4 of the A div. race with random player order
17-32 seed group (the A div. qualification line) - played on game 6 of the A div. race with random player order
Ties will not be broken for the following positions
B division qualification line - all players tied on the cut line will be allowed to participate
Anyone below the cutlines (non-significant ties)
Ties will be automatically broken for the following positions
Any tie above the cutline not listed above - ties will be broken by highest number of 1sts, then highest number of 2nds. If players have the same number of 1sts and 2nds, the tie will be broken by RNG.
The winner(s) of the tiebreaker(s) will receive either the bye or the qualification, thereby filling all spots above the bye or qualifying cutline, with all players of the tiebreaker “seeding out” in the order they finished on the tiebreaker (for example, there is a 4 way tie for 2 byes, therefore the players will be playing for the 7, 8, 9, and 10 seeds. The highest score in the breaker will be the 7th seed, the second highest the 8th seed, the third the 9th, and the fourth the 10th).
D. A DIVISION AMAZING RACE FINALS
The Amazing Race is played in the order specified. Unless unusual circumstances arise, all players’ first game will be Game 1 of the race in the order listed above. Their second game will be Game 2, and so on.
All players will receive practice time on their first ‘run’ of the 8 game race. Players who receive practice will have up to 30s immediately before their turn is to begin. If a player has already played the game in a previous ‘run,’ they will not receive practice.
Sequence of finals events and addition of participants
Before Game 1 of the A Division finals, all players participating in the first round (all players who received no byes) will pick initial playing order for Game 1. These picks will proceed in seed order.
When 8 players have been eliminated, seeds 9-16 will be added. All players remaining from the first group and all players from this round of byes will pick initial playing order for the first game of that ‘run.’ These picks will proceed in seed order.
When 8 more players have been eliminated, seeds 1-8 will be added. All players still in the finals will pick initial playing order for the first game of that ‘run.’ These picks will proceed in seed order.
When only 4 players remain, they will re-pick order once again by seed order. Games in the Final 4 will be one player games, like the rest of the race.
E. B DIVISION AMAZING RACE FINALS
The Amazing Race is played in the order specified.
All players will receive practice time on their first ‘run’ of the 8 game race. Players who receive practice will have up to 30s immediately before their turn is to begin. If a player has already played the game in a previous ‘run,’ they will not receive practice.
There are no byes in the B division. Players will select, in seed order, their initial playing order and proceed through the bank without a re-selection of order
F. BANK REALIGNMENT PRIVILEGE
The first overall seed in the Amazing Race can select a game from the B division finals bank to replace a game from the A division finals bank. The same slot must replace the same slot (eg. the 1st game of the A bank can only be replaced with the 1st game of the B bank, and so on).
