Note: A Division will ALWAYS have 16 players each week including finals. Therefore if any “A” players are absent, a player lower on the rankings will bump up to fill out the Top 16 A Division.
LEAGUE GAMEPLAY:
All players are placed in groups of 3-4. Each week, groups will play 6 games. Organizers will assign the first game for each group. The losing player of each game then has the first option to select the next game or the position. If the losing player picks position, the next lowest scoring player has the option to select game or position. (And so on, until a game is selected.)
LEAGUE SCORING:
Our league uses PAPA scoring (4 / 2 / 1 / 0 for groups of 4; 4 / 2 / 1 for groups of 3) with an additional bonus point awarded per weekly high score per pinball machine during league play.
Each players’ lowest week’s points are dropped from the adjusted scores each week. Adjusted scores are how groupings are determined beginning Week 3 (5/30/24) through the end of the season.
When a player’s adjusted score AND total score are identical, the player with the highest single week score(s) will seed higher. If scores are 100% identical week to week, seeds will be alphabetical.
Beginning in week 3, the Current Top 16 Players of each week compete in the A division, and all other players compete in the B Division. It IS possible to fall out of A Division or jump up into A Division week to week.
It is the players’ responsibility to double-confirm the organizers’ scoring + math each week.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
In order to qualify for finals, you cannot miss more than TWO weeks during the season. (Play-aheads do not count as an absence.) IFPA points will only be earned for players who make it to at least 3 weeks of league play.
DROP IN POLICY:
LAPinball League welcomes all outside visitors and drop-ins as long as we have space. Visitors from out of town will be placed in the highest ranked groups of the week during ranked weeks.
PLAY AHEAD POLICY:
Each player is allowed one week each 6-week season to complete a “PLAY AHEAD” form as a way to compete on a Tuesday night they may need to be physically absent for. Play-aheads do NOT count as an absence.
SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY:
We pride our league in being one of positivity and full of camaraderie. If organizers witness any behavior that is egregiously unsportsmanlike, organizers reserve the right to use their discretion to disqualify players. Repeat offenders may be banned outright.
COST:
All events: Tournaments & Leagues hosted at Eightytwo are free entry with no cash prize. Players are only responsible for coin drop. All IFPA fees are covered by Eightytwo
