Tournament Overview
Registration for this tournament opens on October 15, 2024
Tournament Date: December 14, 2024
Tourney will have a $10 entry fee per player. The entry fee will cover the main tourney and its two side tourneys. This event will have trophies and we will provide pizza and some soda and water for all guests to enjoy. Bring your own snacks (snacks brought for the group are always appreciated). Event starts at 1pm. No practice for this one, as people arrive we want them to get started right away as there is a lot of pinball to do and we do not want to wonder if someone is doing their entrees or just practice games as this is the best game format.
Main tourney shall use a matchplay best game modified decay score qualifying methodology with a head to head to finals as set forth below.
For the qualifying you will have two plays each on seven different machines with each machine being a dedicated arena, both of your plays will count as a “best game” for point purposes. This means the qualifying will have 14 meaningful games. The top eight qualifiers will then qualify for the finals. The 8 finalists will be broken up into two groups of four (1, 3, 5, & 7 will be one grouping and 2, 4, 6, & 8 will be another grouping). The two groups will each play a four player game with last place dropping out (the two drop outs will then play one head to head game for 7 & 8). The two groups will then each play a three player game with last dropping out (the two drop outs will play a head to head game for 5 & 6). The two survivors from each group will be re-merged into a four player group and will play one four player game with last place dropping out and finishing 4th, then a three player game with last place dropping out and finishing 3rd, and then one final head to head game for the championship. Please note: all games in our house are eligible to be picked for the finals regardless of whether they were among the 7 games in the qualifying, the only exception to this is our classic machines (you may not pick a classic machine in the finals of the main as the classic has its own dedicated tournament).
Side Tourney 1 - “A Romping Classic!” The three oldest games in our house (currently Seawitch, Quicksilver, and Catacomb) will have a dedicated tourney. Qualifying is matchplay best game modify decaying scoring with two plays on each machine with both counting (so 6 meaningful games in the qualifying). The top four qualifiers are in the finals. They four finalists play a four player game with last place dropping out and finishing fourth; then a three player game with last place dropping out and finishing third, then one final head to head game for first and second.
Side Tourney 2 - “A Romping Assault of the Vault”. One game will be set up for a single play. Top four (4) scores are in the finals; the top four play again with the bottom two dropping out; then one final head to head for 1st and 2nd.
Parking is very limited here and we need to pack as many vehicles as possible in the driveway. There is some limited street parking available as well. Please try not to disturb the neighbors. There is also a club house with a lot of parking that is a nice side walked 0.82 miles away (if you park there we can pick you up with a golf cart).
Though we are not going to put a cap on the number of attendees, you must register for the event thirty days before the event commences. You can register by giving us your full name, home address, cell phone number, and IFPA number (if you do not have an IFPA number, one will be assigned to you the day of the tournament. You can register either by PM’ing TigerLaw (pinside moderator) or through the Louisiana IFPA representative Mike, whose number is 337-962-4078.
Just a friendly note, we do run background checks on people we’ve never had over to our home or office location before, we do not permit convicted felons in our home. If you have a disability, are breast feeding, or have some other issue and you need more time to play, please let us know and we will accommodate you by letting you play the night before or possibly arriving earlier than the 1pm start time. We seek to be inclusive and make sure you have time to play.
