Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: May 04, 2024

Come join us and celebrate Kentucky Derby weekend and May the 4th by playing some pinball in a Matchplay tournament in my basement bar. It will be a fun and friendly environment for all skill levels and ages, Star Wars outfits and attire welcomed and encouraged. The original trilogy will be playing in the bar and theater. If you know me in IRL and don’t have my address, just message me prior to the event.

All guests are welcome over anytime after 12:00 PM and we will start the tournament around 2:00 PM. If you don’t have an IFPA account, we will help you get registered (it’s free and painless). There will be a $1 entry fee for the tournament, which will go to IFPA for tournament sanctioning fees. Additional donations will be accepted during the tournament for After the Races, a charity organization that focuses on racehorse rehab and rehoming, and I will match the overall donation. All machines will be set on free play.

Games that will be included in the tournament: Avengers: Infinity Quest Pro, Godzilla Pro, Jaws Premium, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, Jurassic Park Premium, Star Wars Premium.

Fun, collectible prizes will be provided to participants. We do things in reverse order, the lowest ranking players get first choices on prizes. Glory to the top players, prizes to the rest. This will be an IFPA tournament, so you can also earn some WPPR points. We will be limited to 24 players. There’s no pre-registration required, but it will help me have an idea about attendance if you RSVP here or message me privately.

The format is six rounds of qualifying Matchplay with top 8 players advancing to finals. Using Matchplay software as our host, you will be placed into groups of 3 or 4 players in each round in a balanced fashion and play on randomly assigned machines. Scoring for each round will be 7 / 5 / 3 / 1 depending on where you finish. Any tiebreaker necessary to determine top 8 order will be played on a randomly assigned machine.

For the finals, it will be a single elimination head to head bracket. Each round will be a best of 3 with the higher seeded player choosing machine or player order for the first game. After the first game in a round, the losing player chooses the next machine or player order. Tiebreaker game, if necessary, will be played on a random machine to determine third place.

Standard tournament rules apply - you will play each game in the player order assigned by MatchPlay. If you play out of order, you will be disqualified and receive 0 points. We do not play extra balls, but you may set up any skill shots and plunge the ball. If there is a malfunction or mechanical error on a machine, have someone in your group alert me or one of the other tournament directors and we will assist your group.
