The Classics Kickoff tournament is a separate event from the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Pinball Open, and will kick things off on Thursday night (4/25) with a Match Play event worth 152% WPPRS!

This event is open to anyone and has a separate registration and separate entry fee from the 2024 MAPO.

Event will still be capped at 80 players.

Tournament will only use "classic" games.

TIME: 7PM Sharp start time. Doors open at 6pm. Practice ends at 6:45pm for announcements

COST: MEMBERS $10 ($1 to IFPA, $9 to prize pool).
NON-MEMBERS $30 ($1 to IFPA, $20 to DPC for club access, $9 to prize pool)

FORMAT:

Qualifying: Group match play with players playing 5 total rounds, with each round consisting of 2 games each with the same group of players each round. Swiss pairings. 7/5/3/1 scoring per game.

Top 16 players make "A" finals (based on minimum of 32 players)

FINALS FORMAT: Top 16 Players make the “A” Finals. Automatic Tiebreakers are turned on and will be used to seed the field. Exception will be 16th place. If less than 4 players are tied for 16th place, the players will have a 1 GAME Playoff played on either Future Spa or Stars to determines who advances to the Finals. If more than 4 players tied for 16th place, the players will have a 1 BALL playoff on either Future Spa or Stars. This playoff game will be significant and will result in the final position for those players that don’t make it into the final. For example, if we have 3 players tied at 15th place, after the tiebreaker game the winner would be placed in 15th, 2nd would be placed 16th, 3rd would be placed 17th.

The format will consist of 3 rounds, playing 3 of the 4 games provided in each bank with the 4th un-played game being used for a tiebreaker if needed in each group.

Games will be played one at a time. Each bank of games will include 4 games, with only 3 of the games being played. The 4th game in the bank that does NOT get picked, will be used as a tiebreaker should one be needed. Once a bank is picked, that bank can no longer be picked for the remainder of the Finals. High seed in each group will get choice of Bank or Order on 1st game. A Bank must be selected before a game is selected. Subsequent games the high seed gets to pick either game or position.
Example of this modified PAPA format. Bank #2 consists of Stars, Meteor, Spirit of 76, and Future Spa. High seed in the group picks this bank (as opposed to order). The next highest seed will now have the option to pick the first game or order. If the next highest seed picks Stars, then the third highest seed will now get to pick order, followed by the fourth highest seed, then back to the highest seeded player. After game 1 is over, the highest seed drives the bus and can either pick game or order. Remember, only 3 of the 4 games will be played, with the 4th game being used as a tiebreaker.

Scoring will be 4/2/1/0 for each of the 3 games. Top 2 advance, bottom 2 are eliminated.
