Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: March 16, 2024

Come join us and celebrate St. Patty’s Day weekend by playing some pinball in a Strikeout tournament in my basement bar. It will be a fun and friendly environment for all skill levels and ages, outrageous green outfits and attire encouraged. If you know me in IRL and don’t have my address, just message me prior to the event.

All guests are welcome over anytime after 12:00 PM and we will start the tournament around 2:00 PM. If you don’t have an IFPA account, we will help you get registered (it’s free and painless). There will be a $5 entry fee for the tournament. $1 goes to IFPA for fees, the rest of the entry fee will go to Child’s Play, a charity that focuses on improving pediatric patients’ experience and comfort while they are in the hospital. Additional donations for the charity will be accepted during the tournament and I will match the overall donation. All machines will be set on free play.

Fun, collectible prizes will be provided to the top 3 finishers. There will also be some prizes for high scores on the machines. This will be an IFPA-certified tournament, so you can also earn some WPPR points. We will be limited to 20 players. There’s no pre-registration required, but it will help me have an idea about attendance if you RSVP here.

Drinks and snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring anything you’d like to share. There’s a basement fridge with plenty of room.

The format is Standard Strikeout. Using Matchplay software as our host, you will be placed into groups of 3 or 4 players in each round and play on randomly assigned machines. After a round has concluded, the bottom 2 players in a 4-player group and the bottom player in a 2-player or 3-player group will get a strike. Once you have 3 strikes, you are out of the tournament. The last remaining player without 3 strikes will be the winner. There will be tie-breaker rounds to determine second and third place. There will also be a unique prize for our last place finisher (tiebreaker match if needed).

Standard tournament rules apply - you will play each game in the player order assigned by MatchPlay. If you play out of order, you will receive a strike. We do not play extra balls, but you may set up any skill shots and plunge the ball. If there is a malfunction or mechanical error on a machine, have someone in your group alert me or one of the other tournament directors and we will assist your group.

The goal is for everyone to have a fun afternoon, so please feel free to ask me or your fellow players for some tips or strategies on the machines as you play. If enough people would like to stick around later, we will probably order some pizza and run another unofficial tournament in a fun format.
