The 2023 Route 66 Tilt Championship will consist of four IFPA sanctioned tournaments:
Main Open Tournament, Women’s Open Tournament, High-Stakes Tournament, and a 3-Strikes Social Bounty Tournament.
Qualifying for The Main Tournament begins Thursday, July 6th at 5PM.
Registration is required for all tournament players and early registration is greatly appreciated. Like please do this, it’s paramount. Competitors for Main Open qualifying will be accepted until Saturday at 2PM or until the cap is reached. Those bringing pins are some nice folks no one should argue. Such fine humans will be granted paid entry into the Women’s/Strikeout Bounty and a sick amount of love. Early tournament competitors/exhibitors must receive their credentials prior to the event opening no later than 3pm on Thursday, July 7th. Meaning, give Mike an email and lets see what we can do.
Check out the full breakdown for the tournament below:
Main Event:
The Main event will consist of an open qualifying period beginning at 5PM to 12AM on Thursday, July 6th running through Friday, 11AM to 2AM, then Saturday from 11AM until 4PM with the finals event beginning promptly at 5PM for the first and second rounds of Group Matchplay.
The entry fee for the Main Tournament is $100 with games set to $.50/game. Combatants will receive an event T-Shirt and a goody bag (We like goodie bags). The Main open event is capped at 80 ballers with prize pots generated by tournament fee plus $1,000 added to pot by location for total prize monies around 9k$.
Registration:
Registration is required for all tournament players. This will be accomplished in two ways. The first and preferred method is by sending an email to mike@hangarpinball.com with your name, IFPA #, a headshot for the JetStreaM, and a short one-liner about you and pinball. Tournament registration fees will be taken via PayPal (friends and family to avoid extra fees) at the same address, or via cash on delivery. Cash is king still, sorta.
Qualifying:
The qualifying event will consist of a bank of 16 modern, classic and EM machines with a murderous rage setup enabled. All games will be set to competition settings in “DEFAULT.” Some pins will have an Easter egg thrown in to keep it interesting. Each competitor may compete up to 20 cards during the qualifying period. 6 best games with 1 best card counted out of 20. That players 6 best games will be compared against all other players 6 best games and awarded points accordingly. Players will need to play at least 6 of the 16 pinball machines to be awarded a score.
The tournament will be using “It Never Drains” Software from IE pinball, a proud streaming community friend for the event which will allow for live queueing of player/game, score tracking individually and live standings on the overhead displays.
The rank of the player’s result on each machine will contribute points to their overall entry as follows:
1st place- 100 points
2nd place- 97 points
3rd place- 95 points
4th place- 94 points
5th place- 93 points
6th place- 92 points
All the way down (Best Possible Score = 500 points, for highest score on 5 different machines)
To be clear and simply put, you have 20 tries to string together 5 better games than the next guy (and/or gal).
Finals:
Determining Number of Finalists:
• Div A: Top 24 qualified players who kicked pinball tail will be placed in Division A.
• Div B: Next Top 24 qualified players who gave it heck will be placed in Division B.
48 total players advance to finals.
Finals Format:
The finals will be played as a group Matchplay event identically for both divisions. Each round will consist of 3 matches on three different machines with 4-2-1-0 PAPA scoring. The top 8 players from each Division will receive a bye for the the first round.
The 1st and 2nd round will be played Saturday evening with the final rounds played on Sunday.
The highest seed in each group has a choice of game OR game position to start round 1. For all subsequent matches in each round the choice of game OR position will belong to the winner of the previous match, then in reverse finishing order of the previous match (i.e., last place chooses next).
The highest total accumulation of points determines final standings.
Lowest scoring two players in each round will be eliminated.
Tie breakers will be played as required.
*In the event top seed/previous match winner declines game choice, 2nd seed/place will assume that role.?
Prize Pool:
