Overall

February's IFPA-endorsed tourney at 8-bit Arcade will be the Max Matchplay format for qualifying, and a ladder(ish) matchplay bracket for finals (8-player). The max matchplay format is similar to round robin, but sets the number of games played by each player (and attempts to avoid pairing you against previously faced opponents.)

10-game max matchplay qualifier

Truncated matchplay ladder finals: If 16 or more players, top 8 seeded into slaughter-style bracket. Each group plays one four player game, then bottom player from each is eliminated. Two three player games, bottom player eliminated. Top four play one game, bottom player eliminated, top three play one game, bottom player eliminated. Top two play one final game to determine winner.

As this tourney stands it will get 72% TGP. I am currently playing with formats to determine the most WPPR-efficient use of our time, so bear with me as we explore fun new formats for our open IFPA-endorsed monthly tourney!
