Join us for our monthly 3-strikes pinball tournament. On the second Saturday of the month, we gather for pinball at The Local in Schenectady. This is an all-skill level tournament and all fun-loving pinball players are invited. If this is your first time joining us, we welcome you! We’ll be sure to have one of our helpful experienced players show you the ropes. Our method of “Swiss pairing” ensures that players are matched with others of the same abilities.
Our tournaments typically host between 20 and 25 people.
The Local is a modern arcade with a dedicated pinball section with 18 machines. The current line-up is: Cactus Canyon, Fire!, Game of Thrones, Godzilla, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Man, Jurassic Park (Data East), Legends of Valhalla, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Metallica, Monster Bash, Rick and Morty, Rush, The Shadow, Star Wars (Stern), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The X-Files.
The 3-strikes format is straight forward. Players are divided into groups of four (or three if needed) to play a designated game. The bottom two scoring players in the match will receive a strike. In the case of a group of three, only the bottom player will receive a strike. After each match, player groups are reorganized based on their win/loss record. Players are eliminated after receiving three strikes.
The entry fee is $5. All machines will be on free-play. Prizes are provided by our host and consist of $50, $25, and $10 gift certificates for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place players. All proceeds after facility fees, trophies/medals, and sanctioning are added to the prize pool for a large tournament expected to occur late fall. This tournament is IFPA sectioned.
