Event 3: The Delaware Pinball Open - Main Event Qualifying
Saturday May 14th
Certified IFPA tournament with 120% TGP (assuming minimum 64 rated players in qualifying)
8AM Doors Open Practice. Practice ends at 8:45am for announcements
9AM Tournament Starts
$65 Tournament Fee 100% gets paid out as prize money to top 16 after finals on Sunday
Tournament will use all 45+ Pinball Machines at the Delaware Pinball Collective. We will try our best to alternate the era of games played on. One round will be LCD/DMD games and the next round will be Classics/EM games. The matchplay software will pick the games played and will match the players up in groups.
This is a Group Match Play Qualifying tournament with Random Pairings to start and Tiered Swiss thereafter. We will play exactly 12 rounds using 7/5/3/1 scoring. After 12 rounds the Top 24 Players make the Main Playoffs on Sunday. We will not have ‘B’ playoffs, you either make the playoffs or you don’t. Everyone will be seeded 1-24. Automatic Tie Breakers will be turned on. The exception to Automatic Tiebreakers will be for 8th and 24th positions. Those positions will have a 1 game playoff drawn at random by the tournament director immediately at the conclusion of qualifying. This will be done so all players know who is in the finals, who has choice of banks, and who they are playing in the 1st round. Top 8 players receive a 1st round bye in playoffs. Playoffs will be Groups of 4 players. 4 Rounds Total using modified PAPA format on 3 Game Banks with 4/2/1/0 scoring. Top 2 advance Bottom 2 Eliminated. Final position 1st-24th will be determined solely by your play in the playoffs. No points carry over from qualifying.
DPO Main Event Finals (Held on Sunday, May 15th)
I changed the finals format slightly to reseed the groupings based on original qualifying as we go from round to round as opposed to a strict bracket format that I originally had written. Plus the finishing position of the eliminated players will now be based on how many points they accumulated in the round in which they were eliminated as opposed to having everyone tied on the round they were eliminated. These changes are more in line with traditional pinball finals at other major tournaments.
