Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: May 21, 2022
This tournament features 10 holes of Pin-Golf (pinball using golf-style scoring) with one or two rounds of multi-matchplay semi-finals and finals depending on the number of players. The semi-finals will consist of two groups of four players using the matchplay format, with each group playing a bank of 4 machines. Finals will consist of four players playing a bank of 4 machines using the matchplay format.
If at least 16 players sign-up, this tournament will generate near 100% of the possible IFPA world ranking points (WPPR).
This tournament is held on the third Saturday of every month. This event replaces the usual Saturday 8pm 3-strikes pinball tournament.
Sign-ups at 1:30pm, start time at 2pm.
Buy-in is $5. All entry fees will be paid out as prizes. In addition, Waterland will splash the pot with $25! Waterland will pay the IFPA fees as well.
* Note the earlier start time of 2pm!
16 or more players -> 8 make the playoffs, with 2 rounds of playoffs
8 - 15 players -> 4 make the playoffs, with 1 round of playoffs
less than 8 players -> top 2 qualifying players play a best of 3 games head-to-head series.
The Pin-Golf format sets a target score on each pinball machine. Each machine is set to 5-ball play. Your score is the number of balls (1 - 5) that it takes to reach the target score.
If you do not reach the target score, your score will be between 6 and 10 depending upon how close you come to the target score.
Each machine will display an associated sheet of paper showing the range of scores corresponding to each Pin-Golf score (6 - 10).
Your score for each machine will range from 1 to 10. The goal is to play all 10 machines with the lowest cumulative Pin-Golf score.
The top 4 or 8 will make the playoffs.
Qualification ties will be broken by the player with the most hole-in-ones (reached the target score in one ball), and then by the most 2s, etc.
If fewer than 22 players sign-up, we will use 3-player groups to ensure fewer machines sit idle during the tournament. We'll also allow skipping ahead to an open machine if it speeds up the tournament. Just be careful to mark your score for the correct hole.
