Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: December 18, 2021
In the super fun Flipper Frenzy format, you will play as many head-to-head matches against randomly selected opponents as will fit within the 2.5 hour time limit. You will play two games of pinball, followed by spending a short amount of time in line waiting for your next pair of games. Report each game's result to the tournament director to be assigned your next opponent from the head of the line. All games in progress when time expires may be completed. No new games may be begun after time has expired. Read the tournament web site for a more complete description of how the Flipper Frenzy format works.
The finals format will be one or two rounds of multi-matchplay depending upon the number of players entered.
The tournament will begin promptly at 8pm. Sign-ups begin at 7:30pm. The buy-in is $5. Waterland Arcade will splash the pot so that it is worth at least $75! All funds in the pot will be paid out as prizes.
Waterland will pay all IFPA fees. The fees will not be taken from the prize pool.
At the end of the Flipper Frenzy qualifying round, your score will be the number of games that you have won minus the number of games that you have lost. Qualification ties will be broken in favor of the player who has played the most games in the tournament. Anyone who remains tied for a top-4 spot will play a 1-ball playoff to break the tie.
If there are 8 to 15 players, the finals format will be one round of four-player multi-matchplay. The top four qualifiers will play four simultaneous 4-player matchplay games. Each game will be worth 7, 5, 3, 1 points for first, second, third, and fourth places respectively. The player with the highest total placement points will win. Ties will be broken in favor of the player with the most wins.
If there are 16+ players, 8 players will qualify for the semi-finals, which will consist of two four-player multi-matchplay sets of games. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the final four which will play a four-player multi-matchplay set of games.
