Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: March 04, 2020
This is Sunshine Coast Pinball’s main monthly club competition open to all players, no competitive experience necessary.
Come after work, enjoy the Sneaky Baron hospitality and make new friends. Warm up from 5:30pm comp from 6:00pm. We have a terrific friendly player group and new players are always welcome.
Competition format is “best game”, and there are 6 games onsite. Each player plays each game once in qualifying and the scores for the each game are tallied using match play software. Points are awards for each score on each game using the PAPA system. 100, 95, 90, 89, 88, 87... etc...
After qualifying concludes, the top 8 players will proceed to the finals, or >50% of the field if 16 or less qualifying players are in attendance. If a qualifying player is not present for finals, then the finals position will be awarded to the next highest qualifying player.
Finals are played in 2 match play rounds, each round consisting of 2 x 4 player groups, with players grouped in simple qualifying order 1-8. This means the top 4 qualifying players make up the top group, and the bottom 4 qualifying players make up the bottom group.
Each group plays the same machine, 3 times in each round, with Matchplay scores awarded 7,5,3, 1 for each game.
In round 1, the player from the top group who scores the lowest amount of points (over the three games) is relegated to the bottom group in 8th place... and the player who scores highest in the bottom group is promoted to the top 4 group in 4th place.
In round 2 players compete for outright 1st to 8th position, with the top group playing for positions 1-4 and the bottom group playing for positions 5-8. This is another round of 3 Matchplay games, each scoring 7,5,3,1.
The highest seeded player in each round chooses the machine and the second highest seeded player choses playing order for all 4 players for all three games in that round.
Any ties that develop in finals are broken by qualifying position of the players involved. No tie breaker games are necessary.
There are trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and other spot prizes throughout the night.
