Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: December 15, 2019

Welcome to “High Stakes @ The Flipper Room”!

Please check-in with Pete when you arrive.

Doors open at 10am for practice until 11:20am, please do not start OR continue any games after 11:20am. We will gather in the back “tent” room at 11:20am to go over rules and answer any questions. The tournament begins at 11:30am.

The entry will be $50 per player + coin drop. Cash payouts go to the top 4 finalists with other prizes TBD.

$1 will be deducted for the IFPA fee.

$4 will be deducted for pizza, soda, water and snacks. PLEASE NOTE, any money not used on food and drink will be returned to the prize pool.

1st Place 50%
2nd Place 30%
3rd Place 20%
4th Place = $45

This tournament will feature between 18-24 machines from three different era’s. The number of machines can change depending on player turnout and/or unforeseen machine malfunctions.

ALPHANUMERIC:

- Dracula
- Flash Gordon
- Meteor
- Paragon
- Skateball
- TX-Sector

- Gorgar (25-28 players) - Hotdoggin’ (29-32 players)

90’s DMD:

- Attack from Mars - Popeye
- Scared Stiff
- The Shadow - Theatre of Magic (modded code; search Pinside forum “New Theatre of Magic software mod”)
- Twilight Zone

- Monster Bash (25-28 players) - TBD Machine (29-32 players)

MODERN:

- Alice Cooper’s Nightmare Castle - Batman 66 (Premium) - Jurassic Park (Pro) - Metallica (Premium) - The Walking Dead (Premium) - Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (Standard)

- Deadpool PRO (25-28 players) - X-Men LE (29-32 players)

The format will be 9 rounds of Group Match Play Qualifying. Scoring will be 7-5-3-1 or 7-4-1. The first round will be Random group pairings, rounds 2-9 will be Balanced group pairings. Arena draws will be Balanced.

All rule changes will be clearly listed on each machine. Extra Balls will be disabled on the majority of machines, but most likely enabled on the “ALPHANUMERIC” machines. If you achieve an Extra Ball, you have “one energized flip”. This will be explained prior to the tournament beginning.

Rounds #1 - #4 - #7: ALPHANUMERIC
Rounds #2 - #5 - #8: 90’s DMD
Rounds #3 - #6 - #9: MODERN

When qualifying concludes, the top 8 finishers advance to Finals. Ties will be broken by Placement (most 1st and 2nd place finishes). If any players still remain tied, a one game tiebreaker will be played on a random “Alphanumeric” machine.

Before Finals begin, “Arena Banks” will be formed consisting of 1 machine from each era. For example, if there are between 25-28 players:

ARENA BANK #7
Game #1 - Gorgar
Game #2 - Monster Bash
Game #3 - Deadpool

All the other Arena Banks will be announced periodically in the upcoming weeks, you can check out www.theflipperroom.com and the Facebook Event page for updates.

The top seed from qualifying will have the choice of either Arena Bank OR Position on Game #1. The last place finisher on Game #1 will have Position choice on Game #2, same applies for Game #3. Scoring will be 4-2-1-0. Ties will be broken by Placement (most 1st and 2nd place finishes). If players remain tied, a one game tiebreaker will be played on the “Alphanumeric” machine in that bank.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***

The 2 Arena Banks chosen in the Semi-Finals ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for the Finals, so choose...but choose wisely!

Hope to see you there!
