Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: August 24, 2019

The Day the Tilt Stood Still 3: SIMULDRANIOUS
August 24, 2019
An IFPA sanctioned Pinball Tournament
$5 Entry ($1 to IFPA Tax, $4 to Prize Pool)
Open Qualifying: 12:00 am – 4 pm

Open qualifying will consist of a pre-determined bank of games. Competitors in the tournament may play the games in any order during the qualifying period of 12:00 AM until 4:00 PM, with no limit to amount of games that can be played within the 4 hour qualifying block. ***YOU MUST PLUNGE YOUR FIRST BALL OF YOUR FIRST GAME NO LATER THAN 3:00 TO COMPETE IN THIS TOURNAMENT

Only your top 5 machines will be used to calculate your qualifying score.

Standard Tournament rules apply with a few additions:
1. You cannot play the same game twice in a row
2. Once you step up to a game that you have already played, your previous score on that machine is deleted.
3. Extra Balls will be turned off, creating a point value if earned.
4. Each player must complete a minimum of 3 games to qualify for finals.
5. Players are responsible for their own coin drop for each attempt.
6. Questions regarding a ruling, machine malfunction, etc will be the final judgment of the tournament director on-site.
7. If a machine becomes inoperable during tournament qualifying, and cannot be repaired, it will be used in the scoring if over 75% of the field has submitted scores on it Otherwise, it will be removed and scores removed for all that played it.

Qualifying scoring will be a total from all 5 machines with points being awarded as follows:
First: 100 pts
Second: 97 pts
Third: 95 pts
Fourth: 94 pts
Fifth: 93 points
Sixth: 92 pts
Seventh: 91pts
Eighth: 90
Ninth: 89
Tenth: 88
And so on

Finals: 5:00pm till complete

After qualifying, the players will be split into A and B Division.

A DIVISION
A Division finals will consist of 8, 12, or 16 players, depending on total number of entrants (A division will be no more than half of total field). A Division finals will be split into seeded groups of 4. The games used during qualifying will be broken into 3 game banks.

The highest seed (from qualifying rounds) in each 4 player grouping (starting with the 1 seed) will choose a 3 game bank. The same bank cannot be chosen by other A Division groups during the same round. If the A Division finals consist of 16 players, then 1 bank may be utilized twice during a round.

The games in each bank will be played in the specific order they are listed. Since the high seed chooses the bank, on the first game, the 2nd highest seed chooses order, then 3rd highest, then 4th highest. on subsequent games, that order is reversed, where whoever had the lowest score on game one chooses order first.

Scoring in A Division finals will go as follows:
1st place: 3 points
2nd place: 2 points
3rd place: 1 point
4th place: 0 points
Per game in the 3 game bank. The top two players will advance to the next round of play. If the finals consist of 12 players, there will be a round added before finals of 3 player groups where only 1 individual will be eliminated.

B DIVISION
B Division finals will consist of 3 strike knockout format where in a 4 player group, 1st and 2nd will not receive a strike. In a 3 player group, 1st and 2nd will not get a strike.

In both divisions, if there is a 3 player group, scoring will be:
1st place: 2 points
2nd place: 1 point
3rd place: 0 points

TIE BREAKERS
Ties for seeding will be settled by highest recorded score. Ties involving a player getting into the A division will be settled as a head to head tie breaker on a randomly selected game in from the qualifying bank.
