Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: April 13, 2019

World Cup Pinball is set up similar to the World Cup Soccer Tournament. Players will be divided into group randomly and will play a Round Robin format within that group. After all of these games are played a certain number of players will advance to the playoffs. The number of players who advance out of the group stage will be determined by the total number of players.

All players within a group will play the same number of games.

13-16 players- 4 groups, 3x Round Robin, Top 2 in each group advance, 8 player playoffs
17-28 players- 4 groups, 2x Round Robin, Top 3 in each group advance 12 player playoffs
29-32 players- 8 groups, 3x Round Robin, Top 2 in each group advance 16 player playoffs
33-40 players- 8 groups, 2x Round Robin, Top 2 in each group advance 16 player playoffs
41-56 players- 8 groups, 2x Round Robin, Top 3 in each group advance 24 player playoffs
57-64 players- 16 groups,3x Round Robin, Top 2 in each group advance, 32 player playoffs
65+- Same pattern

For example if there are 39 players, there will be 8 groups of 5, except one group will be a group of 4. In this case all players will play 8 games in the group stage. To advance to the finals, a player must finish 1st or 2nd in their group in the group stage.

Meaningful ties in the group stage will be broken within a group with a random tie breaker game. Finals will be head to head 3 game matches with the high seed getting choice of game.

Cost of the tournament is $5 with $1 going toward IFPA fees and the other $4 into a prizepool. There will be a B division for the top 4 or 8 players who are outside the top 1000 ranking who do not make the main final rounds
