Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: January 13, 2018
The Syracuse PINheads celebrate two years of flipping around Central, NY with a pinball tournament, meet up, and all around good time. With a new location, new games, and the glorious surroundings of our friends in Armory Square there is a lot to celebrate!
Come on out anytime between noon and 8PM to play some pinball, nerd out about comics, high five, and score some swag. We will be raffling off a Pinbox 3000 along with other cool pinball related gear for anyone who joins these pinball shenanigans.
Tournament details:
If all goes well, we are hoping to try something new at Syracuse PINheads with a ticket-based tournament on a 5 game bank. You will purchase a ticket for $4 which will cover the cost to enter the tournament as well as the cost to play your games on that ticket. No need to worry about those pesky quarters!
Each ticket grants you access to one game on each of the 5 games. At the end of each game your score is recorded; at the end of all 5 games your score is entered into the system so you can see where you match up. You receive one point for each person's score that you beat on that particular ticket. You can enter as many tickets as you like and your best scoring ticket will determine your place in the rankings.
Tournament qualifying will run from noon to 3PM. If there are a substantial number of players there, as dictated by the tournament director, qualifying may last until 4PM to ensure everyone has a fair change of getting games in. At the end of qualifying the top 6 players will go to finals with the top 2 getting a bye in the first round. Tie breakers will consist of a 1 ball head-to-head on a game chosen at random using random.org. Players 3-6 will compete on 4 games with Pinburgh scoring (3, 2, 1, 0). The top two from these semi-finals will play another 4 game bank against the top 2 qualifiers also with Pinburgh scoring. There will be award medals for the top 3 players. In both the semi-finals and finals the top qualifier pics the what games are played. Player order is lowest qualifier (player 1) to highest qualified (player 4) - ex: In semifinals 6th place is Player 1, 5th place is Player 2, 4th place is Player 3, and 3rd place is Player 4.
Pinball Etiquette:
If someone is playing a game you want to play please create a line behind that game (but be mindful of giving them enough space to concentrate). If a line is already formed please wait patiently until your turn is up. If lines become too long Syracuse PINheads will create a sign up list and will announce turns as they come up.
More rules. Play extra balls during qualifying. Plung extra balls during finals. Ball stuck or need a ruling? Find Ryan Zlomek. Have fun! Anyone caught cheating or abusing the games will be bounced from the Tourney. Everyone is expected to be on their best behavior. If a feature/light on a machine is not working, keep playing. That feature won't work for all other players. Slam tilts, bang-backs, and death saves are not allowed. First offense is a disqualification from the tournament. Intentionally interfering with another player's game will result in a disqualification from the tournament.
