Tournament Overview


Start Date: September 16, 2017
End Date: September 17, 2017

TOURNAMENT TIMES: Qualifying on Saturday from 9.30am and Finals on Sunday from 9am.
FORMAT DETAILS:
Qualifying: Group Matchplay.
1) Seeding: IFPA.
2) First round pairing: Slaughter.
3) General pairing: Swiss - Players will be paired against players with the same win-loss record. No attempt will be made to pair players against previously unfaced opponents (adjacent pairing is used).
4) Player order: Rotating - Random order for the first game, then rotates player order evenly.
5) Scoring system: IFPA (7/5/3/1) (7/4/1).
6) Arena draws: The tournament machines will be placed in three groups: old, mid and new. In each round players will play one machine from each group.
7) Duration: Six rounds.
8) Matches each round: Three matches.
9) Tiebreaker: Ties will be broken by the number of first place finishes, then by the number of second place finishes and finally, if necessary, a single game play-off on a machine chosen at random.
Finals: Group Elimination.
1) There will be 3 rounds of 3 matches.
2) Players will be seeded according to their qualifying positions and placed in groups of 4.
2) Each round will consist of 3 matches.
3) In each round players will play one machine from each group of old, mid and new.
4) In each round play order will be rotating - random order for the first match and then rotating.
5) Scoring will be IFPA (7/5/3/1).
6) After round 1, the top 2 players in each group proceed to the next round.
7) The same procedure will be used for rounds 2 (8 players) and 3 (4 players).
8) At the end of the third round the player with the highest points score will be declared the Adelaide Masters Champion for 2017.
9) During the finals, ties will be broken by a single game play-off on a machine chosen at random.
