Tournament Overview
Start Date: August 19, 2017
End Date: October 28, 2017
Leauge Basics:
$20 one time league fees with 100% pay back. Coin drop weekly, but no additional weekly fees
League will be Saturdays at 5 pm with doors opening at 4pm for people to practice prior to league.
Pre-plays and makeups will be allowed! I will be in every Friday for people to pre-play or make up a week that they have to miss. I want this to be as inclusive as possible!
Full League Bylaws:
League Scoring: Each night, groups will be divided up into groups of 3 or 4 players. All players will play all machines available that night (normally 6 machines). Once your game has finished, you will log your school for that machine into the scoring software. Score will range from highest to lowest score with the highest score getting one point and the lowest score getting the highest number available for the night (ie: if there is 10 players, highest score for the machine gets one point, lowest score gets 10).
Dated Preplays & Make Ups: If you know in advance that you can't play next week, you may pre-play the week. To do this, you'll need to play every game with at least one other player. All standard league rules apply (e.g. restrictions on extra balls). When done, give your scores to a league official, who will apply them during play for the appropriate week. We will also allow make ups if you have missed a week that you did not know you would miss. This can be done up until the Friday of the following week, however it needs to be scheduled on or before the Saturday being missed. Playoffs may not be pre or re-played!
Undated Preplays: Prior to the third week of league play, you may complete a pre-play session as described above, specifying no date for these pre-plays. These undated pre-plays will be automatically used if you are absent and have no dated pre-plays or haven’t schedule a makeup by the Saturday that you will be making up. Once used, you may not submit undated pre-plays again that season.
No-Shows/No Pre-Play: If someone does not show up, they receive one position under the amount of total players playing for that night. (i.e: if you have 10 regulars, and a new guy shows up on week 3, then that means you have 11 total players, so his first 2 nights would be a 12th place. If the league grows at a later date to 12 total players, this no show would be edited to still remain 1 below total players in the league, i.e 13th place)
Ties: Ties will be settled on the last night of regular league play, after normal league play is finished. A randomly picked machine will be selected from bank to settle tie breaker
Broken Machine: If a machine goes down, no scores posted for that evening will count on that machine.
Modifications: No modifications to machine during league play, all cleaning/leveling will be completed before or after league to allow all players to play on the same game.
Participation: League pinball is more fun to play when all players participate regularly. Forfeiting games goes against the spirit of the league. Therefore, if you forfeit 12 games in a season, you will be dropped from the league for the rest of the season, and may not qualify for playoffs. For occasions when it's just impossible to come, you can submit pre-plays or schedule replays so you don't have to forfeit games.
Etiquette: Basic rules of courtesy apply. Do not touch a machine when it's someone else's turn. When your turn comes up, be ready to play. If you need to step away for a moment, let your group know where you are and when you'll be back. Tilting your ball imposes no penalty other than that imposed by the machine (usually loss of ball and bonus). "Slam tilting" the machine, however, will cause you to forfeit that game; multiple violations may cause you to forfeit the season!
Seasons: A season has 10 weeks of regular play. Don't worry if you can't make every week; there are provisions for pre-playing as many as three weeks. At the end of the season, players will be divided up into 2 divisions (A and B) & each division compete in playoffs, which last one or two weeks depending on total league size. The top three finishers in each division earn “trophies”. We will plan on having two seasons a year, one in August and another in February
Extra Balls: On machines set to 3-ball play, you may play 1 earned extra ball (EB); on machines set to 5-ball play, you may not play any extra balls. Any EB’s earned above these limits must be plunged. You may not flip or otherwise touch the machine once the ball is in motion. (If the machine gives you a "ball saver", you must plunge that away, too.) Sorry, you can't "buy-in" an extra ball, even if you scored a replay during your game.
League Dues: The league treasurer will collect dues in the amount of $20 per season. These dues pay for league prizes, trophies, etc. League dues must be paid prior to the end of the 3th week of each season. This allows time for procuring trophies for the league finals.
Kitty: Players must pay for each game played. If credits are already accumulated on a machine when you begin a game (due to previous replays, match, etc), game money must be deposited in the kitty. The kitty is collected by the league. Kitty will be split between the waitress working the pinball area and the league. League will use the fees to help cover trophies and possible prizes.
Finals: To be eligible for finals, you must attend 5 (50%) of regular league nights. (This is a new rule enacted by the ifpa starting January 2017; let’s get use to it now!) The new rule will not allow you to even use their name in the results of the league unless they complete 50% of the games in the event.
Rulings: Questions regarding a ruling, machine malfunction, etc will be the final judgment of the tournament director on-site.
Variations to League play: Weeks 5 and 10 we will see a variation to league play. It will be played in a Pin-Golf style format and played as follows:
- Players will be put in groups of 4. Each player plays for the target score indicated on the score card. The number of balls played to reach the target score will be counted as "Strokes"
- Each game will count as one hole played. When the group is done on a hole it will move on down to the next one. Each round will be 6 games (holes)
- There is a course maximum of 7 Pin-Strokes per Pin-Hole. Should you not reach the Target Score after playing six balls, record a score of 7 and move on to the next Pin-Hole.
- It may take multiple games to reach the Target Score. In this case, any additional games played will be added to the score accumulated from previous games.
- If a player earns an extra ball, this will not be counted as an additional Pin-Stroke, but rather as a continuation of the current ball being played.
- If a player passes the Target Score and continues to play subsequent balls of that game, those additional balls will be counted as additional Pin-Strokes on that Pin-Hole. Please keep things moving by stopping play once target score achieved and letting the other players play their balls. (i.e. – Plunge ball only, do not touch machine)
- The player with the lowest score at a Pin-Hole takes the honor of playing first on the following Pin-Hole. The competitor with the second lowest score plays next and so on. If two or more competitors have the same score at a Pin-Hole, the play will be in the same order as the previous Pin-Hole.
- Scores are cumulative, where the lowest score wins. League points for the week will be given in order from lowest score to highest (winner gets one point; second place gets two points, etc.). No shows will be handled IAW league no show policy, to include per-plays.
- Anyone caught cheating will be bounced from the Tourney. Everyone is expected to be on their best behavior.
- Tilting someone else’s ball will result in a one stroke penalty for the offender. The player whose ball was tilted will wait until their turn is up again and play with 1 stroke subtracted from their score.
- Slam tilting a game in progress will result in a 3 stroke penalty. A second offense will result in a disqualification from the tournament.
- Playing someone else’s ball (playing out of turn) will result in a 1 stroke penalty.
