Tournament Overview
Tournament Date: February 18, 2017
A four player game between places 20, 19, 18 and 17 with only the loser dropping out. The remaining three players are then joined by 16th and play another four player game with loser dropping out and top 3 joined by 15th etc until there are 3 players left so there will be 17 rounds to get to the top 4 players.
Final 4 players will play on all 6 machines. All machines will be on 4 balls (or 5 if older and not able to be set to 4) but in final of 4, all machines will be on 3 balls. Scoring for each game in the final is as follows:
1st Place = 4 points
2nd Place = 2 points
3rd Place = 1 point
4th Place = 0 points
Losers' Bracket
This will will work in exactly the same way as the existing format, which for ease I'll call the winners' bracket. So once there are 4 losers from the winners' bracket, they play a four layer game, loser drops out (so one person will only get 2 games) and remaining 3 are joined by the next loser from the winner's bracket.
This then continues until you have 3 players in the winners bracket who go through to the main final. What this does mean is that there is no automatic passage to the final for the top qualifier so they have to survive one round which seems fairer that they have to earn their place in the final like all other players. The remaining 4 players in the losers bracket play until only player is left who joins the other 3 in the final ie a 4 player, then 3 player, then 2 player game at the end.
