To qualify for the QLD State Pinball Championship, a player must finish in the Top 3 in any of the monthly pinball events run by any of the following 5 clubs in QLD during February-November 2017
* Brisbane Pinball Club Monthly Tournament
* Netherworld Head-to-Head Smackdown (3-strike)
* Netherworld Pin-golf Tournament
* Netherworld Flip Frenzy
* SBC Monthly Tournament (Saccharomyces, West End)
* Flipswitch Monthly Tournament (Ipswich)
* Gold Coast Pinball Club Monthly Tournament.
Players will be placed into groups of 4 chosen at random (4 player games)
Each group will be assigned 3 games at random. Each game has the same points ... 7 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 1 for 4th
There will be a total of 5 qualifying rounds (15 games per player). After each round, new groupings will be selected, according to points earned in the tournament to date
Groupings are determined from the scoring in each round thereafter as follows:
1,2,3,4 .... 5,6,7,8 .... 9,10,11,12 .... 13,14,15,16 .... 17,18,19,20 .... 21,22,23,24 .... 25,26,27,28 .... 29,30,31,32 .... and so on, until all players have been grouped.
All games will be played as a 4-player game (unless machine is unable to allow it).
Matchplay software will allocate the games and order for each match.
The top 8 players will advance to the Finals once completed. Ties for 8th place will be broken by a single head-to-head game on a machine chosen at random.
FINALS:
Finals matches will be contested as Best-of-5, single elimination head-to-head matches.
Highest seed will always play lowest seed in matches, and so on, until all players have been paired up.
Highest seed has either choice of machine or play order. Machine chosen will remain the same for all 5 games (if required), while play order alternates between games.
The winner will be the last remaining player.
The winner of the QLD State Pinball Championship will win the Grand Prize of Free Entry into the 2018 ACS Tournament wherever it is held (if eligible), plus Airfares & Accommodation for up to 2 nights (extra nights stay are to be paid for by the prize winner). If the prize winner is ineligible, or is unable to attend the ACS Tournament, a suitable and equivalent prize will be awarded.
