Tournament Overview

Tournament Date: June 20, 2015

Qualifying period is from 21st May until 19th June.
Qualify: On any any of the six (6) Machines at Timezone Gold Coast (Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise) will be setup in Tournament mode for the period beginning 21st May and ending 19th June. Consisting of … Walking Dead Pro, Walking Dead LE, Star Trek LE, Mustang LE, Iron Man VE, WWE Pro. The top 3 players from each of these machines will advance to the tournament (18 players). These machines will be monitored weekly by myself and qualifying scores need to be sent via MMS (photo text message) to 0402 789 618 (signage will be up around the machines explaining the process). The tournament mode/scores of the qualifying machines may or may not be reset weekly to encourage more gameplay (I will update signage weekly, telling people the score they need to beat).

Tournament: Saturday 20th June, check in and warm-up from 11am. There are no tournament fees. The tournament will be played on two KISS Pro machines. Single ball warm-up etiquette on each of the two Kiss Pro machines (no full games).

Seed Round: Beginning at midday All 18 players will play a single game on each of the two KISS Pro machines, the cumulative score will determine seed positions for the tournament.

Round 1: (Seed 1 and 2 get a bye for this round) Single game knockout, 2 player head to head game on whatever machine becomes available. Higher seed to play first. 3rd plays 18th, 4th plays 17th, 5th plays 16th (and so on) winner advances to next round.

Round 2: Best of 3 games knockout, 2 player head to head game on whatever machine becomes available. Higher seed to play first, winner of match to play first on 2nd and 3rd matches. 1st plays 10th, 2nd plays 9th, 3rd plays 8th (and so on) winner advances to next round.

Round 3: “Best of 3” games knockout, 2 player head to head games, higher seed chooses the machine and plays first, winner of each match plays first on subsequent matches (but cannot choose to switch machine).
5th plays 4th (winner progresses),
4th plays 3rd (winner progresses),
3rd plays 2nd (loser takes 3rd spot)
2nd plays 1st (loser takes 2nd spot)

There will be either medallions for all spots, or trophies only for the top three spots (I’m still crunching the finances) and the top two players will be given first option to represent Gold Coast Pinball Club at the next APL Final. There will be no cash prizes for this tournament. There may or may not be transport/accommodation as an additional prize – this is to be advised closer to the tournament date.
