Mike Wiley wins 2009 Michigan Pinball Open
The second annual Michigan Pinball Open saw 24 players battle it out across 4 divisions for the coveted prize of Michigan Open Grand Champion. The tournament saw players from neighbouring states as well as neighbouring countries for a day of pinball at Marvellous Marvin’s Mechanical Museum. After qualifying concluded, the field of 12 players in the A division was whittled down into 4. The semi finals were decided by match play in a best 2 out of 3, with Andy Rosa facing Mike Wiley and Trent Augenstein facing John Flitton. The finals came down to John Flitton and Mike Wiley in a best of 3 on Family guy. In the end, Michigan native Mike Wiley was victorious and took the Michigan Open Grand Champion Prize. So 2nd place was John Flitton, 3rd was Andy Rosa and 4th went to Trent Augenstein. The EM Division winners were (1) Trent Augenstein, (2) Andy Rosa, and (3) Josh Henderson.
once again, in the playoffs i put up higher scores on a machine that was higher than the top qualifying score in qualifying rounds (usually assuring a win) , and still got beat. thx wiley!! wiley tripled his own qualifying score on POTC against me two times in a row. do i have a big target on my back? way to hold back in qualifying. lol.

Andy, You forgot the part about tripling my qualifying score in TWO balls :). You played great in our match. What can I say… I just used your POTC game strategy & got lucky enough to hit my shots & keep those multiballs in play. I have been playing lots of pinball recently. That helped. You’ll get your shot at revenge at Pin-Masters in Vegas, I’m sure. P.S. You look pissed-off in the picture they posted!

You are smiling very well, and should be pleased to push the pinball competitive scores at higher and higher levels in the finals. I enjoyed watching the pinball playoff finals to make sure the Michigan Open was FUN. My dad gave me a choice: play more qualifying rounds or play more of Marvins Mechanical devises.
