It’s Championship Time For The World’s Best Pinball Players
The resurgence in pinball popularity, globally, continues without missing a beat as the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) is pleased to announce the 17th IFPA World Pinball Championships.
After a pause due to the Covid 19 pandemic, pinball is back with a stellar field that promises to be one of the most closely contested events in the history of competitive pinball. Fourteen countries will be represented in the field of 64 with the top ranked players in the world testing their flipper skills in head-to-head battles. It will be a test, not only of endurance and perseverance, but also the artistry necessary to control the nuances of a 2.6 ounce silver ball.
The 17th annual IFPA World Pinball Championship is scheduled for May 26-29, 2022 at The Pinball Asylum in Fort Myers, Florida. The most prestigious event in competitive pinball, players will be determined by using the IFPA’s World Pinball Player Rankings.
In addition, also taking center stage is the 8th IFPA Epstein Cup. This unique competition features eight of North America’s best facing off against eight of the world’s best flipper wizards in what is The Pinball Ryder Cup as Team Europe looks to build on their 4-3 series lead.
The growth and availability of pinball over the past few years is unparalleled as both young and the young at heart are rediscovering the joys and challenges that today’s machines elicit with a choreographed experience unlike any other.
For the past 14 years, the International Flipper Pinball Association has been able to increase the number of ranked players to well over 85,000 from across the globe (World Pinball Player Rankings). They are competing in over 8000 sanctioned leagues and tournaments taking place under the direction of the association’s nearly three dozen country directors.
The International Flipper Pinball Association was created with the express purpose of encouraging, supporting and endorsing competitive pinball throughout the world. The organization provides oversight and assistance to not only establishing pinball leagues but also tournaments and other promotional activities.
