Adam Becker on vacation . . . approval delays

Every once in a while we have to let Adam Becker out of his cage to keep him from going insane. We know how anxious tournament directors and players are to see their calendar submissions approved and results posted quickly, especially with the end of the year approaching.

Here at the IFPA we believe the holidays are a time to be with your family and friends . . . even for Adam Becker (reluctantly).

If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard back from the IFPA regarding your event, that’s why.

Adam will be back January 2nd, so please let him enjoy his last two days of freedom before we lock him back up.

Seems reasonable. But, in the future, wouldn’t it make sense to automate the process a bit more? Especially results submitted by regular (presumably trustworthy) TDs.

or have a backup, in case of vacation, sickness, etc

We’ll do our best to get caught up as quickly as possible. Adam has actually jumped back in today to start approving things (as I have) . . . . just don’t tell anybody we’re trying to keep that on the down low ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Josh (and everyone at the Ifpa), I’m not trying to complain, just a suggestion.

I tend to try and give these guys a lot of slack for stuff like this. They work pretty hard at it and are usually on top of things. I don’t know if its volunteer or paid, but either way, two people handling all of that data … well … they deserve a break too!

Total amount of money paid to Becker, Shepherd and myself after 12 years . . . still proudly $0 ๐Ÿ™‚

Adam easily puts in 20 hours a week on IFPA duties. Even now, after a full day of work, followed by hours catching up on result submissions, he’s sitting mailing out Provincial Championship trophy toppers. Anyone who complains about him taking a few days off can take it up with me, his wife and co-IFPA 2018 host. Ridiculous! I’m perfectly alright with your results being delayed a week over the holidays given its the only respite he gets in a year, and the level of service you receive from this VOLUNTEER every other week is impeccable.

If people were fairly paid for what they did to keep this global behemoth up and running, this would be an entirely different conversation. In fact, Josh, I think its time we have a chat about that.

for that amount of work, Adam deserves MORE than a few days off…with NO complaints ๐Ÿ™‚

there should only be praises on how much effort he puts in

    Happy New Year!
