Tournament Overview
Start Date: May 16, 2024
End Date: May 18, 2024
Limited Rebuy
$10 buy-in, $5 re-buys (2 max)
No player cap
Six arenas will be available for 10 hours of open qualifying, from 4:15pm-6:45pm on Thursday May 16th and from 4:00pm-11:30pm on Friday May 17th. Up to the top 16 players (number of participants based on attendance) will qualify to participate in the finals on Saturday at 11:30am.
Your best 12 games will count towards your standings in this Best Game format tournament. Your first buy-in of $10 will get you 12 entries, after that you can re-buy TWICE for 6 more entries per re-buy ($5). So, in total, you could pay $10 for 12 attempts, $15 for 18, or $20 for 24. There will be six games available, and your top two scores on each will count. You MUST play each game twice to have all 12 attempts counting towards your standings, so it is highly recommended that you use your first 12 entries playing each of the 6 arenas twice. Scoring will be PAPA decay (100, 90, 85, 84…), so the best score a player could have after playing all 6 arenas twice would be 6 first place scores and 6 second place scores - (6 x 100) + (6 x 90) = 1140.
Attendance numbers:
If 8-16 players, 4 will advance to finals.
If 17-28 players, 8 will advance to finals.
If 29-36 players, 12 will advance to finals.
If 37+ players, 16 will advance to finals.
All players advancing to finals will receive a cash prize. The payout chart will be modeled on this:
9th-16th: approximately buy-in or small amount more if pot allows
5th-8th: approximately double buy-in
4th: 10% of what remaining pot, adjusted to be appropriately more than 5th-8th prize
3rd: 20%
2nd: 30%
1st: 40%
Finals
Saturday, check-in from 11-11:15am, start at 11:30
No additional cost besides coin drop (buy-ins were paid during qual)
Best Game finals will be a head to head best of 5 games format. If there are 12 players participating, the top 4 seeds will have a bye, otherwise there will be no byes. The top seed in each pair will pick a starting game, then move right from there. Players may only choose the same starting game once. Top seed may defer game choice, but after game one player choice goes to the loser of the previous game. All players in the finals will receive a cash payout and the winner will receive a trophy or plaque of some kind.
