Tournament Overview
Registration for this tournament opens on March 06, 2024
Tournament Date: March 09, 2024
The format will be best game using the matchplay best game modified decay scoring format with each game being deemed an arena. You get two plays on each machine, both plays on each machine count and are entered into matchplay (so you get two scores in each arena that each count…currently we plan to have eight arenas).
Top four qualify for the finals (it is possible the finals will be increased to eight people if the tourney attracts 17 or more players, see notation one below). Finals format will be one four player game with last place dropping out and finishing fourth. Then one three player game with last place dropping out and finishing third. Then one final head to head game to determine who the champion may be. There will be trophies for the top three finishers and it’s always possible for there to be a “furthest from first” trophy for last place. Trophies are not guaranteed.
Tourney starts at 1pm (see Note No. 3 below for early possible start time if you qualify). You can arrive as early as noon for practice. All times CST.
We are not putting a limit on attendees for this tourney, but you must register no less than 72 hours prior to the tourney. You can register with your full name, home address, cell phone number and IFPA number (if you do not have an IFPA number that is okay, we will still permit you to register and get you one the day of the tourney, but disclose that you do not have an IFPA number when you register). The registration fee for the tourney is $15. Anyone who has ever been convicted of a felony or charged with a crime involving a minor may not attend this tourney. You can register through Louisiana IFPA rep Mike VanEtten mlvanetten@yahoo.com or with the tourney host directly by PM'ing TigerLaw on Pinside.
Note No. 1: if there are 17 or more people who show up, we reserve the right to increase the finals to 8 rather than 4 (we will announce that right before the tourney starts if we have 17 or more registered attendees).
Note No. 2: though this is very unlikely to occur (it has not happened yet in eight years of hosting tourneys), we reserve the right to move the tourney from 3885 Levee Loop in Lake Charles to our alternate location of 1807 Lake Street in Lake Charles (70601) should something come up necessitating the move (we will alert everyone who is registered of the location change…again, very unlikely to occur but we do reserve the right in case of emergency).
Note No. 3: we are going to allow an early qualifying in the morning for anyone who is handicapped, nursing a small child, or otherwise needs additional time for any reasonable reason. Either Mike VanEtten or TigerLaw are authorized to approve you for an early start time, please reach out to them if you need more time. If you play your qualifying games early under this Note No. 3, you must be present later that day for the finals (if you qualified) or else your balls will be plunged consistent with IFPA rules for no shows.
Note No. 4: you should have a phone that is capable of taking photographs. If you do not have a phone capable of taking photographs we will accommodate you somehow, but let us know at the time you are registering as we may have you come early and play at 11am CST with those that need more time so we can monitor your games closer.
