Tournament Overview
Start Date: December 01, 2019
End Date: January 01, 2020
This is a month-long pinball tournament, with unlimited entries. Players can go to the tournament website to register for an account:
https://matchplay.live/8xe8n
Once registered, players may use the website to submit "selfies" of their best scores on 3 out of 4 selected machines.
Selfies may be uploaded at any time during the month of December. Selfies must show the score clearly, but do NOT have to include the player's face.
Players will be awarded points for their scoring: 100 points for the best score on each machine, 90 points for 2nd, 85 points for 3rd, 84 for 4th, 83 for 5th, etc. Players will then be ranked based on total number of points they earn across 3 games. If you don’t submit a score for a particular game, you get 0 points for that game.
Current standings will be updated on the tournament website throughout the month. At the end of the month, all players who submit at least 1 qualifying score will be invited to play in the December Finals, which will take place on Wednesday, January 1, from 7-10 PM.
Finals format: Players will be in groups of 4, with the first round organized by Slaughter pairing. ie: For a 16 person tournament, the pairings will be:
Group 1 (1,8,9,16)
Group 2 (2,7,10,15)
Group 3 (3,6,11,14)
Group 4 (4,5,12,13)
Ties during qualifying will be decided by a coin flip for seeding. For an odd player count, players may be in 3 player groups, but the first round pairing is generally the same in that the one seed will always be paired with the lowest seed in the first round.
The highest seed in the group will get the choice in every round of game or position from a set of 8 games (4 games from qualifying + 4 additional games). We will go in order from the highest seed for game choice. You may not choose the same game as someone else in the same round. You may not choose a game more than twice in the tournament. If you have chosen every game twice, then the available game choice resets. If the highest seed chooses position, the next highest seed of ALL groups will have game choice (not the next highest seed in the group).
The format is 3 strikes. The top two players receive no strikes, and the bottom two players receive one strike. In a three player game, the bottom player receives a strike. Pairing in the second round and beyond will be Swiss style in that players with zero strikes will be paired with other players with zero strikes, and so on.
Prizes will be awarded to the top players. This event is sanctioned by the International Flipper Pinball Association, and all participants must contribute $1 for participation. All Finals participants will be awarded World Pinball Player Ranking points!
