Escher Lefkoff wins 2nd Major Championship!

In the history of competitive pinball, very few (34 in fact) have had the chance to call themselves a Major Champion, with even fewer having won multiple Major Championships (11 players in history going into THE OPEN 2023). Like professional golf or tennis, the opportunity to join this elite club now only happens three times a year. The Open IFPA World Championship brought together two titans looking to add to their already established legacy, with Keith Elwin seeking his 12th Major Championship and Escher Lefkoff seeking his 2nd Major Championship.

In a final game for the ages, Escher overcame a 1,000,000+ deficit on his last ball of Flash Gordon to defeat Keith by 6,000 points to capture his 2nd World Champion title. Escher became the 12th player in competitive pinball history to win multiple  Major Championships.

With his 2nd place finish, Keith Elwin reached his 19th top 4 finish in Major Championships (greatest of all time). Travis Murie from St. Louis, Missouri reached his 1st top 4 finish in Major Championships with his 3rd place finish. 4th place went to Jason Zahler who also earned his 1st top 4 finish in Major Championships.

Holy cats man. That’s really the measure of a champ, how they react to adversity and mount comebacks consistently. Me? I depend on my opponent having several crappy balls.
