IFPA18 World Pinball Championship field is almost set!

The IFPA18 field is nearly set, with 77 out of the 80 players locked in. The IFPA European Pinball Championship, IFPA Women’s World Pinball Championship and IFPA North American Pinball Championship Satellite spots will all be up for grabs to fill the final 3 spots.

20 countries will be represented at IFPA18, along with 15 players in the field that have won a Major Championship at some point in their career (Keith Elwin, Daniele Celestino Acciari, Escher Lefkoff,
Raymond Davidson, Cayle George, Eric Stone, Arvid Flygare, Colin MacAlpine, Zach McCarthy, Johannes Ostermeier, Zach Sharpe, Robert Sutter, Andrei Massenkoff, Paul Jongma and Jim Belsito).

At rank #67, David Dahl-Hansson from Sweden became the last player above the cut line.

The IFPA16 field is nearly set, with 62 out of the 64 players locked in. The IFPA European Pinball Championship and IFPA North American Pinball Championship Satellite spots will both be up for grabs in February/March to fill the final 2 spots.

A record 22 countries will be represented at IFPA16, along with 17 players in the field that have won a Major Championship at some point in their career (Keith Elwin, Jorian Engelbrektsson, Daniele Celestino Acciari, Raymond Davidson, Cayle George, Franck Bona, Albert Nomden, Zach Sharpe, Robert Gagno, Jörgen Holm, Colin MacAlpine, Jim Belsito, Robert Sutter, Adam Becker, Escher Lefkoff, Levente Tregova, Andrei Massenkoff).

At rank #48, Fred Richardson from the US became the last player above the cut line.

18 countries will be represented at IFPA15, along with 12 players in the field that have won a Major Championship at some point in their career (Adam Becker, Andrei Massenkoff, Cayle George, Colin MacAlpine, Daniele Celestino Acciari, Escher Lefkoff, Jim Belsito, Jorian Engelbrektsson,
Lyman Sheats, Raymond Davidson, Robert Gagno and Zach Sharpe).

At rank #66, Lyman Sheats from the US became the last player above the cut line.

IFPA14 World Pinball Championship field is almost set!

The IFPA14 field is nearly set, with 63 out of the 64 players locked in. The IFPA European Championship Satellite spot was just won by Taco Wouters from the Netherlands, while the IFPA US National Championship Satellite spot will be decided in March.

IFPA14 will set a new record for most countries represented in the history of any pinball tournament with 20.

At rank #69, Ben Granger from the US became the last player above the cut line.

IFPA14 also breaks another record by featuring 15 players in the field that have won a Major Championship at some point in their career.

IFPA13 World Pinball Championship field is almost set!

Comp-2015-1aThe IFPA13 field is nearly set, with 62 out of the 64 players locked in. The IFPA European Championship Satellite spot is being determined right now, while the IFPA US National Championship Satellite spot will be decided in a few short weeks.

18 countries will be represented, a record for a US-based IFPA World Pinball Championship. This includes Thailand which will see its flag on the World Pinball Champion trophy for the first time.

IFPA13 shattered the previous world record for the cut line for at-large bids into any IFPA World Pinball Championship. At rank #52, Adam McKinnie from the US became the last player above the cut line, shattering the previous US-based IFPA record of rank #79 set at IFPA11 in Denver and the Europe-based IFPA record rank of #66 set at IFPA10 in Germany. The cut line has since moved a bit as we’ve had 3 players cancel since IFPA13 registration closed.

IFPA13 also breaks another record by featuring 15 players in the field that have won a Major Championship at some point in their career.

IFPA11 World Pinball Championship field is almost set!

ifpa11logoRegistration is now closed for IFPA11, and we couldn't be more excited about the field of participants!

IFPA11 will set a few records, the most amazing being that each of the top 16 ranked players in the world will be in attendance. The previous record was set at IFPA7 when each of the top 5 ranked players participated.

16 countries will be represented, a record for a US-based IFPA World Pinball Championship. This includes Norway which will see it's flag on the World Pinball Champion trophy for the first time. 

Another IFPA record that has been set is the cut line for at-large bids into a US-based IFPA World Pinball Championship. At rank #79, [player]Cesare Datri[/player] from Italy became the last player above the cut line, shattering the previous US-based IFPA record of rank #165 set at IFPA9 in Seattle. The Europe-based IFPA record still stands at rank #66 from IFPA10 after initial registration, although the actual cut line moved to rank #88 after some player cancellations leading up to the tournament.

IFPA9 in Seattle featured a record 7 players that have been crowned World Pinball Champion competing in the same tournament. We're excited that those 7 players are all returning to compete in IFPA11 – Cayle George, Andrei Massenkoff, Keith ElwinJorian EngelbrektssonDaniele Celestino AcciariBowen Kerins and Lyman Sheats. In addition, current IFPA World Pinball Champion Jörgen Holm returns to defend his crown, making for a new record of 8 World Pinball Champions under one roof for the first time.

$tern Rewards Program – September 2013 Update

The IFPA is excited to announce that the following players have been now qualified for the $tern Rewards Program based on their September 2013 IFPA endorsed tournament performance! These players have until August 15th, 2014 to exercise their reward option.

Jorian earned a total 157.50 WPPR points in September, with victories at both the EPC and the K15 Open in Finland..

Alec moved up 7971 spots by earning 2.76 WPPR points from his 39th and 8th place finish in the Main and Side tournaments at the 2013 Mad Rollin Pinballs Tournament. This boosted Shaun into now being the 4568th ranked player in the world..

BIGGEST MOVER AWARD – [player]Mikael Olausson[/player]
Mikael moved up 6617 spots from his 55th and 91st place finish at the at Boras Pinball Open Main and Classics tournaments respectively, as well as a 5th place finish in the September West Coast Pinball Manadstavling. In total, Mikael netted 2.80 WPPR points from his performances, which has moved him up to a rank of 4342nd in the world..

BIGGEST MOVER AWARD – [player]Joe Ruesewald[/player]
Joe moved up 6503 spots by earning 3.55 WPPR points from his 3rd place finish at the September edition of the Emporium Chicago Monthly Tournament. This moved Joe into now being the 3861st ranked player in the world.

63The IFPA is pleased to announce that our Player of the Month for September 2013 is newly crowned European Pinball Champion [player]Jorian Engelbrektsson[/player] from Stockholm, Sweden. Jorian earned a total 157.50 WPPR points in September, with victories at both the EPC and the K15 Open in Finland.

The rest of the top 5 for the month of September included fellow Swede [player]Mats Runsten[/player] from Stockholm, with 155.86 WPPR points, [player]Trent Augenstein[/player] from Delaware, OH with 133.58 WPPR points, [player]Philippe Bocquet[/player] from Paris, France with 127.60 WPPR points, and [player]Fredrik Malmqvist[/player] from Skövde, Sweden with 115.16 WPPR points.

Congratulations to Jorian and the other top WPPR point earners of the month!

World Pinball Champion . . . Who’s Next?

photoWith over 17,000 players in the World Pinball Player Rankings, only 12 players in the history of this sport have claimed the title of World Pinball Champion. With IFPA10 and PAPA16 on the schedule for 2013, this year marks the 25th and 26th opportunities that players have a chance to join this prestigious club. Will IFPA10 see the 13th World Pinball Champion crowned? Will previous World Pinball Champions [player]Andrei Massenkoff[/player], [player]Cayle George[/player], [player]Daniele Celestino Acciari[/player], [player]Jorian Engelbrektsson[/player] or [player]Lyman Sheats[/player] keep that count at 12 and add to their own legacy? We will find out in a couple of months, as the illustrious Space Jet trophy is ready and waiting to be hoisted by the next World Pinball Champion.

Robert Sutter – IFPA’s Player of the Month for February 2013!

Robert earned 101.42 WPPR points in February, including a 2nd place finish in both the Main and Classic tournaments at the Dutch Pinball Masters. In addition, Robert had a 3rd and 2nd place finish in the Main and Classic tournaments at the Nordwestschweizer-Flippermeisterschaft.

The rest of the top 5 for the month of February included Trent Augenstein from Delaware, OH with 101.41 WPPR points, PAPA 10 World Pinball Champion Jorian Engelbrektsson from Sweden with 97.63 WPPR points, 4-time World Pinball Champion Bowen Kerins from Salem, MA with 89.96 WPPR points, and Aaron Nelson of the US with 72.47 WPPR points.
