PinBrawl 2014 Champions – IFPAPA (Sponsored by MPE)!

IMG_1402.JPG14 teams competed in the 2014 PinBrawl World Team Pinball Championships, held Wednesday August 13th at PAPA HQ. After 3 qualifying rounds, IFPAPA (Sponsored by MPE), made up of [player]Doug Polka[/player] (ranked 1018th in the world), [player]Mark Steinman[/player] (ranked 215th in the world), [player]Zach Sharpe[/player] (ranked 3rd in the world) and [player]Josh Sharpe[/player] (ranked 20th in the world) earned a spot in the playoffs by winning POD #2.

In the Semifinal round IFPAPA (Sponsored by MPE) defeated Stoned Drunk! 70-47, and followed that up with a 64-53 victory in the Finals over the defending champion Beavis and the Pin-buttheads. [player]Zach Sharpe[/player] earned top honors as PinBrawl 2014's Most Valuable Player, earning 83 MVP points over the course of the tournament. Full results can be found HERE.

PinBrawl 2013 Champions – Beavis and Pin-Buttheads!

photoTwelve teams competed in the return of the PinBrawl World Team Pinball Championships, held Wednesday August 7th at PAPA HQ. After 3 qualifying rounds Beavis and Pin-Buttheads, made up of [player]David Riel[/player] (ranked 160th in the world), [player]Joe Scaletta[/player] (ranked 172nd in the world), [player]Greg Defeo[/player] (ranked 688th in the world) and [player]Cryss Stephens[/player] (ranked 40th in the world) earned a spot in the playoffs by winning POD #1.

In the Semifinal round Beavis and Pin-Buttheads defeated Eight on the Break 61-56, and followed that up with a 69-48 victory in the Finals over The Four Horseman. [player]David Riel[/player] earned top honors as PinBrawl's Most Valuable Player, earning 89 MVP points over the course of the tournament. Full results can be found HERE.

Daniele Celestino Acciari – IFPA’s Player of the Month for April 2013!

1256The IFPA is pleased to announce that our Player of the Month for April 2013 is current World Pinball Champion [player]Daniele Celestino Acciari[/player] from Italy. Daniele earned 172.82 WPPR points in April, including a victory at the Pre-Pinburgh Doublewide Grill tournament, and an insanely impressive victory at the inaugural PAPA Circuit Final. In addition, Daniele won one of the Classics Divisions at the Michigan Pinball Expo. With his performance during his trip out to the US, Daniele is actually qualified for both the IFPA Pennsylvania and IFPA Michigan State Championships, sitting in 2nd and 8th place respectively.

The rest of the top 5 for the month of April included [player]Cryss Stephens[/player] from Pennsylvania with 165.90 WPPR points, [player]Zach Sharpe[/player] from Chicago, IL with 150.07 WPPR points, [player]Joshua Henderson[/player] from Plainfield, IL with 134.74 WPPR points, and [player]Keith Elwin[/player] from Carlsbad, CA with 126.65 WPPR points.

Pete Hendricks captures the win at Stern’s Pittsburgh AC/DC Launch Party

February 19th, 2012 – The event was held at Ace’s Breakaway and Play, an arcade at the middle of the city on Smithfield street. In addition to the two AC/DC machines available for play there, Ace’s also features five other pinball machines among its games every day. This weekend it was Family Guy, Avatar, Tron, Batman (Stern), and Transformers. Over 60 people attended the launch party.

The tournament on AC/DC was the main feature of the night. There were 30 competitors and over 70 entries placed. After the dust from qualifying ended, four players remained at the top of the standings. [player]Jon Replogle[/player] (IFPA ranked at 135th in the world) had the top qualifying score of 181,516,810. Second in qualifying was [player]Pete Hendricks[/player] (148) with a score of 140,711, 840 followed by [player]Cryss Stephens[/player] (234) with 89 million and [player]Al Thomka[/player] (91) with just over 70 million.

The finals were a one game playoff, winner take all. [player]Al Thomka[/player] started off the grouping strong putting up a score of over 50 million on his first ball and really putting the pressure on the rest of the group to perform. In the end [player]Pete Hendricks[/player] captured the win with a score of 92,233,320.

Along with the cash for 1st place, each of the final four also received entries to the PAPA World Championship (www.papa.org).
