The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund (GGAF) is a non-stock, non-profit 501(c)3 organization, providing financial grants and “pro bono” medical assistance to retired NFL players in dire need.  The organization focuses on the humanitarian side of post-football related issues, which include coordination of social services to retired players who are in need due to a variety of reasons including inadequate disability and/or pensions.

Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, also. Solid Rock’s primary mission is to make an everlasting difference in the lives of teens by helping them meet their spiritual, economical, physical, and social need.  Alice Cooper’s Rock Teen Center offers a safe, engaging environment during non-school hours –a time when they are most vulnerable to drugs, violence, and gangs. Maintaining a teen’s worst enemy is too much time on their hands Solid Rock provides the music, arts, vocational programs and fellowship that challenge teens to discover their passion through music, dance, self-expression, and creativity. Date is probably a typo, I suspect you mean Tuesday Oct. 27th, not 7th.

  2. Josh Sharpe Josh Sharpe says:

That’s correct Bob. It is the 27th. Post has been updated.

  3. PinballGuy says:

Exactly what percentage of the revenue collected from medallion sales goes to charity?

  4. Josh Sharpe Josh Sharpe says:

I believe Gridiron Support has a royalty structure worked out with the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, although I’m not sure what percentage that is.

Details on their website mention – The net proceeds from all sales go directly to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.

    from Gridiron Support:
Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock and Coach Ditka’s Gridiron Greats
Assistance Fund leverage “signature” promotional “events” (with
celebrity participation) as a primary fundraising and general marketing
strategy. Our FWTG campaign is a “trial” extension of their
celeb “event model”, utilizing many regional events to promote and
support the main event at Alice’s sports bar – Cooper’stown. As
with their other annual charity marketing “events” (Alice’s “Christmas
Pudding” and Celeb/Am golf & Ditka’s HOF dinners and Celeb/Am golf),
ticket sales (like our medallion sales) help defray the costs of the
events. Ultimately, in addition to a big “thank you”, both
charities want to provide a good experience and value (lots of good $
prizes!) to the FWTG participants that are helping make this campaign an
even bigger success than last year.
